Some Oakland Interest

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Jul 8, 2007 4:07 pm

With the trade deadline in less than a month and the A's possible sellers, a number of scouts have been on hand at the Coliseum the past few days -- and several have been taking note of Mike Piazza's batting practice. Piazza might be a target for several contenders looking for some extra offense in the second half. One scout from a playoff hopeful mentioned Saturday how good the designated hitter looked swinging the bat.

Other A's players getting some notice include Dan Johnson, Joe Kennedy and Saturday's starter, Rich Harden, though it's unclear how available Johnson and Harden might be. There also might be some interest in Kielty from teams looking for a right-handed bat off the bench.

I would like see to see Mike Piazza go because of the way that jack Cust as been playing for us. He has been excellent and he is our DH. So, for Jack to stay and be a very good DH Mike has to go.

Rich Harden. I really like this guy but man he is on the D.L. after every single start. Can he go longer than a start? I think it would be nice for him to be in the bullpen like he was against the Mets where he was very good.

Joe Kennnedy. Meh. I'm mixed on this one. With all of the injuries we are having with our starting pitcher we might have to keep him but if we trade some of the other players we could get some startingpitching out of that which would be nice.

Dan Johnson. He has been pretty hot lately at the plate which we need right now. So, for him I'm not sure.

Booby Kielty. He can go for a pitcher.
