Rookie Travis Buck hit his first career homer and drove in a career-high five runs to help the Oakland Athletics stretch their winning streak to four games with a 16-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

Buck added a three-run double and Bobby Crosby doubled in two more during an eight-run second inning.

Oakland had scored 26 runs in its previous eight games before breaking out with a season-high total against Texas.

Kameron Loe took a simple approach in his first major league start in nearly a year. It certainly worked -- enough to baffle the Oakland Athletics.

Loe combined with four relievers on a shutout as the Texas Rangers won 7-0 on Saturday night and snapped a three-game losing skid.

"I went as long and as hard as I could," Loe said. "I was focusing on getting strike one so I could get hitters in a defensive count."

Hank Blalock hit a two-run single and the Texas Rangers scored three runs in the eighth to rally past the Oakland Athletics 4-3 Sunday.

Eric Gagne got one out in the ninth for the Rangers before leaving with an apparent leg injury. He landed awkwardly after throwing a pitch to Mark Ellis. He eventually limped off the field and Akinori Otsuka came into the game.

Blalock's third hit of the game came on an 0-2 pitch from Oakland closer Huston Street with the bases loaded. It was Street's first blown save in five opportunities.

It doesn't matter, we only score 2 runs a game anyways.

Just like Oakland to blow the scoreboard up the night before to not even score a run the next night. GRRRR

Kameron Loe and Co. shut us out... what a frustrating team. I remember when we had tons of bats in the minors... the days of Giambi, Tejada and others are just a distant memory now.
