Why did we release Jay Witasick?

Seems to me he was a decent reliever, and we could have still used him... Casilla better be ready to contribute a lot and quickly, else this could be a very, very bad move...

i dont think jay witasick and bad move have been used in the same sentence in a while.. except if it was in the context.. we signed jay witasick, it was a bad move. calling his release a very very potential move is silly. he has been in geren's doghouse all year, and a minimum reliever would be better than him. castillo has mucho upside, just wild. he's been pretty lights out so far.

Releasing Witasick when we have Justin Duchscherer, Colby Lewis and Kiko Calero pitching worse, is a bad move. We could have optioned Lewis... what harm is there in losing that guy? We lose a decent bullpen arm for no reason...

well, he asked to be let go, and was terrible last year. not sure why geren never trusted him this year, maybe someone will eat his contract.

Rays are signing him.

He'll be in uniform by probably tonight.

In our bullpen, he is a welcomed sight.

Great pickup for the Rays... well, at least a good one. Witasick at worst is an experienced arm and can go 1-2 innings every other night... defenitely deserved better treatment than he got here, IMO.

At least Santiago Garcia, or Jairo Casilla, either way, is pitching well in his place...

Has he had any health issues this year?
