Not losing 13-5 and starting off 1-6 would be good this year.... :)

After Smoltz, (Who's turning 40 next month) I'm not exactly in love with Atlanta's staff this year.

I get the feeling we're going to lose this one.

I would like to think that we'll stop sucking ass in April and then having to play catch up, but eh.

The pitching staff is in shambles and the bullpen sucks ass. So we'll see.

Hope I'm wrong.

I'm not. I honestly think we have the edge in the pitching matchup the first two games of the season.

Why?

Myers and Smoltz are about even and Hamels has been playing like crap recently.

He's probably given up about 8 homeruns in his last 2 or 3 games.

Good luck fellas.

Less than two hours until the season starts!

Interesting to see Howard batting 3rd and Utley batting cleanup. I guess Charlie feels that he wants to get Howard some more at bats and Pat might not be the protection he needs behind him.

^^^It's a smart move, but Pat may surprise us this year.
Obviously this series will be a tempo setter for our season.

We've hit Smoltz well in the past, and I don't put too much stock in struggles in spring training, particularly if the pitcher is throwing strikes.

Outstanding job by Myers today. 7 innings, only gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 8. Truly an ace performance. Now it's up to the bullpen to close this one out

Nevermind, Myers batting in the bottom of the 7th. He's already thrown 95 pitches. Can't say I agree with this move.

Well, looks like I was right, unfortunately.

Ryan Madson f*cking blows.

I love the Phillies specific board...

While yesterdays game was frustrating and there was some forshadowing for what may be to come (keeping starters in too long to protect the bullpen, bullpen meltdowns, etc...), it was only one game... I expected to win 2 out of 3, so I'm not ready to give up on the season...

Up until the 8th inning I was going to say Brett was pitching a far better game than his ERA would indicate. I think he had like 3 hits and 2 walks through 7 innings. great WHIP, great K's, locating his pitches. Everything going well.

But man, with 2 outs and an 0-2 count. You cannot make that pitch. Cannot. Huge mistake.

He deserved the no decision.

Myers said he'd throw the same pitch if he could do it over again and that he'll always throw that pitch in that situation.

So.

I'm sure he didn't mean to throw it right down the middle.

Everyone makes mistakes, his just happend at an in opportune time.

He deserved the no decision.

3 runs over 7.2 is deserving of a ND? Not sure about that.
