If we don't give him a huge contract we're gonna be watching him win multiple WS with the Yankees while we fight to stay above .500. Same thing with Cain too. Sabean hardly ever signs stars from other teams for big contracts so he would just sign 5 mediocre hitters to replace Timmy and Cain. I don't want that at all. As long as we keep a middling offense and stellar pitching, we'll be ok.

Our offense wasn't even middling last year, though. I know alot of that had to do with injures, but it was one of the worst in the last 15-20 years.

It was in 2010 though. Lincecum and Cain are gonna cost a lot but their salaries will essentially just be replacing Zito and Rowand's. Also payroll has still increased quite a bit annually; it's gonna be 130 mil this year and I remember it was just 85 or so mil a couple years back.

Our offense right now is pretty middling - the OF of Cabrera, Pagan, and Schierholtz is the definition of average, we're good at 3B and C positions, alright at 1B and 2B, and have... defense at SS. This should be a playoff team if the pitching stays intact (and  for no serious injuries).

Right, but we have to hope that Voggy keeps up as a good 4th starter and that Zito wins at least 10 games as the 5th. I still can't believe we gave up on Wheeler and didn't even try to get Beltran back.

Agreed on that, easily the stupidest move of the year. I didn't like the trade much but I will admit that I really did like Beltran as a Giant. Sabean's just an idiot, Cardinals didn't even fork up that much to get him. At least make an offer for ****'s sake.

Well, at least we got Timmy for the next two years. Hoping to lock up Cain for the next four or five in the next couple of weeks.

I think we need to win in order for Timmy to stay beyond this. I heard two years ago that he would look for short term contracts because he didn't want to get stuck in a bad situation.

I'm pretty indifferent. Theriot's not very good offensively or defensively, though he has a decent career OBP. Crawford's still gonna be the starter on opening day though.
