Off season moves

Post#1 » by radtech » Wed Oct 31, 2012 3:47 am

Kevin Youkilis, need a backup third and first baseman that bats right handed.
Brennan Boesch, the Tigers currently have Dirks and Garcia ahead of him, It would take a trade of Javier Lopez to get him. The Tigers had no other left hander except Coke. Pagan is no sure thing to return and moves Blanco to center.
Jose Mijares seems to be a cheaper alternative to Lopez.
Heath Hembree replaces Clay Hensley. The Cardinals had 3 hard throwing youngsters in their bullpen. This would help Hembree get comfortable in the majors without any stress.
Bad contracts or players leaving are Huff, Rowland's contract, Freddy, Melky, Theriot, and Burris.

Lopez is a free agent? I thought only the Duck was a FA for the bullpen? I'd say we'll probably bring back Wilson for a cheap one year deal, imo.

WT says Scutaro, Affeldt & Pagan want to return. Who do we keep?

A while ago I also read an article on Melky. They wanted to talk to Melky first, cause he's still a good player in his prime. I'll try to look for the article

Thought on re-signing Melky? I don't know bout that :-?

I don't love either deal, but I love that we made them. Especially considering the deal that Victorino got.

Hopefully neither of them turn into Huff like deals, but then again, Huff was a flash in a bottle type of season. Scooter has always been pretty consistent, and although I don't expect either of them to have the same type of season they had in 2012, hopefully our lineup will remain somewhat intact through the entire season. Blanco as the starting LF is a concern, though.

Will this be it for the offseason or will we make more moves?

Other than trades, that's gonna be it. We're already at 130-140M, and I figure that we're going to try to extend Posey sooner than later.
