Giants getting no love
Is it just me or are the giants getting no love from anybody. Everywhere i read or tv show i watch, the giants are picked to finish 3 or 4 and sometimes even dead last in the division. I guess i might be biased, but i think they are just as good as any team within their division. Dodgers probably have the best overall team talent wise, but im not as high on them as others. ANy thoughts??

This is an interesting phenomenon with me. Why do people need to have their fandom justifed by media outlets? It's not a judging thing like ice skating. So who cares what others think?
Does it make them feel better? Do they need to feel respected for being a fan of a certain team? If that's the case, we're rooting for the wrong teams.

no, i was just concerned that i was only thinking the giants were a good team because im a homer. I just figured someone besides the fans have to think that we can win the division, and honestly have learned not to really believe anything the media says being a giants and barry bonds fan my whole life.

I pick them to finish last and I think Barry Bonds is awesome.
They just can't compete with Arizona or San Diego. Not that these teams are worldbeaters, but they just can't. San Fran can battle with Colorado and Los Angeles for third place, but Arizona and San Diego are head and shoulders above everyone else in the division.
It's not so much as having any glaring weaknesses, it's just that San Fran is kinda mediocre across the board. Mediocre offense, mediocre pitching staff, mediocre defense, etc.
It is odd that everyone is so high on the Dodgers, though. They're pretty equal to the Giants.
80 wins.

80 wins I think is an excellent year for the Giants. I don't think they have what it takes to win in that weak division. Their middle infield is eligible for AARP benefits at the end of the year. The outfield of Roberts, Winn, and the old Bonds doesn't scare anyone. Aurillia had one monster season with the Giants and hasn't been the same since.
The rotation is strong though. If they don't give up any runs they may win a few games but I don't see them winning the division.

The middle infield may be old, but Durham is the second-best player on the team and the best if Bonds doesn't play a full season.
Lincecum is going to be awesome, so they get him up as soon as possible and shove him into the rotation and get rid of Russ Ortiz. Like tomorrow. Russ Ortiz is the #5, right?

Yeah, Ortiz is starting Saturday against the Dodgers.
I say that Lincecum comes up in late May/early June when Ortiz has 10 more BB's than K's and has an ERA creeping up towards 6.
About the Giants getting no love, do they really deserve it? They practically finished in last place last year with an old team returning again. I think Arizona takes this division followed by LA, SD, SF, and COL. It will be a very competitive division.

Durham doesn't run anymore and misses like 30 games a year. I like the guy but he's passed his prime. He still has a solid glove but c'mon...This isn't a good team if Ray Durham is your 2nd best player.
