Thats likely how they'll use him. Of course, performance is the biggest factor.

And I didn't notice that the draft is about a month away.

As the wiretap reports, Bumgarner with another good outing. If he and Alderson pan out... Wow, what a rotation.

I'd take Matusz or Crow over Alonso. Yeah they are pitchers but its all about BPA. Alonso will be good but that seems like a cheap route at #5.

If Smoak is there, take him. Bonus money is likely reasonable for #5 and his hitting/defense skills are there. If his bonus demands weren't so damn huge, I'd take 3 seconds to select Eric Hosmer. The frame is already there and so are his hitting skills, I doubt he takes 4 years. Solid defensively at 1B and can probably play corner OF with that arm.

I'll try to get my Ben Snyder report up later tonight.

Omar should be playing tonight as well.

Snyder was terrific tonight. Seven more shutout innings against one of the best offensive teams in the Cal League. His off-speed stuff is just too advanced for this calibur of player.

He really needs to be brought up to AA to see if he can have the same kind of effectiveness with the off-speed pitches. He features both a good change up and curve ball. His fastball is just average at best. Most of his swing throughs came on junk.

D'Elessio got some run at 1B, finally. He made some nice throws and even started a 3-6-3 DP. Omar looks ready to go. I can't wait to get that skillet backhand gloved, purse swinging Bocock back to the minors.

What would be a good comp for Snyder? I've been thinking Noah Lowry sounds like a decent comp for a while. Not big pitchers that have solid off speed stuff.

Lowry has a better change, but not as good of a breaking ball. So, probably not him. I hate to say this, but somewhat like Zito now with better control.

The challenge for Snyder will definitely be the PCL, I think he can get away with some of his stuff in AA.

Fairley is still in Arizona working out with the rookies. He was injured and the Giants are bringing him back slowly. He should land in A- sometime this season. The Giants have released no updates on his progress so I have no idea when that may happen however.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I found this article to be a very interesting read.

http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/news ... &fext=.jsp

It talks about how great the 2005 draft class has been in just three years. Of course, we wouldn't know it because we didn't have our first pick until the 4th round.....

Here is your answer from the Mercury News...

"Another AWOL top prospect is outfielder Wendell Fairley, who has remained in extended spring because of minor health issues. Fairley was 29th overall pick out of high school and isn

Yeah, David Price has been in extended spring training for thr Rays as well. But, yesterday should have been his last day. I'm not sure where they'll send him. I kind of figured Fairley would go play rookie ball.

Villalona still 17, Bumgarner still 18. It's nice to have a farm system to follow for a change.
