Villalona hit his sixth jack on Sunday. I really need to see this kid in person.

Nice to see his power coming along. I would now like to see his average start climbing as well.

It is still early, but I give respect to Sabes for this pick.

Nate Schierholtz is tearing up triple A Fresno.

.310 AVE, 56 games, 213 ABs, 35 runs, 66 hits, 12 doubles, 8 triples, 10 HRs, 45 RBIs, 13 BB, 8 SB

.358 OBP, .582 SLG, .940 OPS

Also, 29 Ks, less than 10%

Runners on: .367 AVE, .410 OBP, .735 SLG
RISP: .375 AVE, .429 OBP, .688 SLG

I want this kid in Right Field so bad which is why I hope we trade Randy Winn. Defensively Nate also has a cannon for an arm.

Im torn on this. I think that if we wait until next season to bring him up, he could win ROY. That would be a great accomplishment for this organization and something I would love to see. If they bring him up this year, unless they do it late in the season, he could play himself out of contention for that award next season.

There's no use bringing him up until Winn is traded. He'll be out of options and won't play everyday.

Our San Jose pitching staff is incredibly dominant, even though the Cal League is an extreme hitters league.

I like how the Giants are being extremely patient with this group. Last year as they dominated Augusta the Giants did not bring them up to San Jose. This year the group appears to be dominating San Jose but the Giants are not rushing them up. I believe staying patient with such young arms is going to pay major dividends down the line.

no reason to rush guys like alderson and bumgarner, there in thier first year of pro ball. they will eventually hit a wall and need to be shut down. im sure th giants are monitoring their pitch counts and innings closely.

I watched Sosa a little yesterday and English a little today for the first time. Sosa is a one trick pony. He's all fastballs. His reported 97-98 mph fastball was topping out at 93. He struck out 5 in 4-2/3, but he walked quite a few, too.

English looks like more of a prospect. He's a lefty with a low 90's fastball and a nice change up. He was striking out guys with both pitches. I've yet to see Pucetas, but I'll rank the other 4 starters.

1. Alderson
2. English
3. Snyder
4. Sosa

Rafael Rodriguez, of Dominican Republic, has reportedly accepted a $2.5M SB from the San Francisco Giants. It will become official in 3 weeks. Rodriguez, 16, has scouts drawing comps to Angels RF Vladimir Guerrero because of his power and size. Right now, he can play the entire OF but scouts seem to think that he'll grow into a corner OF. 2 years ago, top Latin American prospect Angel Villalona accepted a $2M bonus from the Giants.

Rodriguez is #4 on ESPN.com's 2008 top prospects from Latin America.
