With the 10th pick in the draft...Madison Bumgarner

Whould you go pitcher or hitter with the Giants first pick, #10 overall?

Do we get the 10th pick in next years draft if Bumgarner doesn't sign?

Yeah, that is a new rule (I think they'd slide the pick AFTER the 10th pick in the current draft is used). But, this was supposed to be a great draft class. So, I'd think they would get better value in this year's pick.

Meanwhile, Beau Mills signed early and has almost a half a season in A-Ball driving in runs at a good clip.

Actually, I dont think they get the #10 pick. I believe they get an extra pick at the end of the 1st round. Ill try to look it up.

Also, early reports are next years class could be even better. With the new rules about high school players, you are going to start to see deeper and deeper drafts from now on.

Still, how pathetic does it make our organization look if we cannot even sign 1st round draft picks. That is just sad.

It's the 13th. Just two more days to sign two first round picks....

Cutting it close.

Fairley signed for a million. Bumgarner wants what Kershaw got last year 2.35M.

Lincecum was the 10th pick last year and got a little over 2M. So, they're probably haggling over 300K. Somebody's gotta cave in.

I do not believe there is any way Bum will be close to Lincecum. I believe Bum can become a good pitcher but he has a lot of work to do first; none more important than learning another good pitch or two. One great pitch wont get it done anymore.

If only we would have taken Mills or even Matt Dominguez, high school 3B. But oh well. It is interesting to note that we were able to get four high school All-Americans. Three 1st team in Wendell Fairley, Tim Alderson, and Madison Bumgarner with one 2nd team in Nick Noonan. Noonan is having a great start to his career. No shame in that; just long waits.

**Edit: The Giants have signed Bum. He signed for $2 mil, $200K above the slot recommendation.

I haven't seen any word about where the top 3 picks are going to end up? Are they going to play this year or will the Giants hold them out until next season? I would like to at least see them play a few games in Arizona.

Did we get a steal??? Check these stats out.

Andrew D'alessio - 1B - Arizona Rookie League - 19th Round 2007 Draft
.289 AVE, 11 HR, 40 RBI, .591 SLG. in 149 AB's.

That is dam good. HR and SLG lead the Arizona league. Wow.
