Positive trend in coverage of Bonds

Post#1 » by backer55 » Wed Jul 4, 2007 9:22 am

Folks, i think the media has threw their best punches. It's been a long hard fight but Barry Bonds is still standing and will soon be crowned Champion. I don't participate in other sites. Yes i'll give my two cents worth to those who i feel deserve critique of their generalalities when their point is to discredit Bonds performance this year.

But i do read them... alot. In visiting different blogsites i'm seeing a change. A change in the way people are responding to the mindless who want Barry to die, break a leg, burn in hell, or consider him a joke. Many come to his defence very effectively, doing so with facts and reason. Lots no longer care who the cheaters are as it can be fairly assumed that a majority used one or another of several different substances to enhance their performance at one point or another during their career. Some of Bonds defenders were those hollering the loudest only months ago. Now, many more are defending Bonds and less are calling for his head.

Then there was the All-Star voting. Not all those votes came from the Bay Area. Makes those who claimed that Bonds is hated outside it's friendly confines, look as though they were misinformed. Barry deserved his place on this team and will deserve his place on any "best ever" team named in the future, including the Hall of Fame. Yes, there's a shift in the wind. Go Barry!!

Yea, i thought that way at first and would still welcome him to compete. Then i remembered how long those derby's go on, and on... how many swings they each have to do, round after round and the history being that some players actually loose their swing altogether after competing.

My guess is that Bonds may have done well in a round or two but his body is just not up for it. He would not be able to compete with the younger guys. He's gonna be "the HR Champ". Why go out getting beat down by younger, stronger guys, not to mention the media.

Does he really have anything to prove?
