Find that big bat the Giants need this season!!!

Gary Matthews Jr is the one name that is available but due to his large contract, it will raise questions and financial risk issues.

Richie Sexson is another name often associated with the Giants. Why doesn't the Giants offer him a one year cheap contract since there are reports he's willing to take a big pay cut to play. Maybe Sexson could lightning in a bottle.

They should of gotten Adam Dunn? I know he strikes out alot but the Giants need a big bat...no offense to Sandoval, Molina and Rowand.

Ben Sheets and I think Pedro Martinez...is another free agent and I know we don't need any more pitchers but why is still on the free agent market???

Call up John Bowker for crying out loud.

Richie Sexson and Gary Matthews Jr aren't going to do anything for you.

If the A's are still playing bad near the trade deadline, what about trading for Matt Holliday? Or maybe Gonzalez from the Padres?

Don't tie any money up now. Wait for Posey/Villalona/Noonan/Bumgarner/Alderson to come up.

So now that the Giants offense on the road has pretty dismal, the Giants braindead child GM Sabean now has to either make a move to get a better shot into the playoffs/wildcard or start sending out his resume to find another Gm gig...

Sabean has really dropped the ball in picking up a bat they reall y need...They decided not to go after McClouth, DeRosa and Adam LaRoche...

If they don't want to deal any of their young arms...Bumgardner,Alderson, then why don't they deal Sadowski...he's had a history of injuries but has shown to be a very effective pitcher in his recent outings.

At this point, I'd want them to get Matt Holliday since I think he belongs in the N.L...

Why can't we just stay the course? We didn't expect to make the playoffs this year anyway. There's no reason to trade Alderson (which is what I believe it would take to get a good power bat) for some help this year, when our plan is to compete in the future.

I would have liked to get McClouth or LaRoche for cheap as well, but it didn't happen. And I don't believe any GM would give a thing for Ryan Sadowski. Maybe Sanchez, but what bat could we get for him?

I simply don't trust our offense to come thru if and when it really starts to matter...We shall see where we stand once we face the Colorado Rockies...

And if the Giants mgmt is serious about winning and being a team that will contend not just this year but for years to come, they have to get guys that can hit for power and average...

Sanchez just threw a no hitter/perfect game albeit Uribe fielding error and a no decision on the next game outing...there's no way I deal Sanchez...unless they somehow get that bat with high R.I.S.P. #'s and promising minor leaguer starting pitcher.

I hope the Giants do something...I'm not talking something major just someeone that can be the difference maker and raises everyones game...

I don't trust our offense this year either. But I'm not willing to give up the future for a bat we'd lose in the offseason.

I think you're being delusional about Sanchez' value. We might be able to get a decent bat, but theres no way anyone gives us a good minor league pitcher along with it. One no hitter doesn't change three years of bad starts. If you can get Freddie Sanchez, I think you do it.

Agreed. The only trades I would entertain is a Freddie Sanchez/Dan Uggla for Jonathon Sanchez. There is no need to sacrifice the next 6 years of NL contention for this years' wild card bid. We're in great shape with what we've got. Who would have thought we would have the third best record in the NL with the lineup that we have? When looked at on paper, we're producing more wins with players that are inferior to these NL powerhouse lineups. (ie. Philly, Chicago, Florida, Houston and Milwakee)

For the next six days, Sabes can either make himself look like a patient mastermind who has finally finished reading "General Managing for Dummies" or live up to the idiot persona that most people have tagged him within the past decade.

Stand pat or deal Sanchez for a bat (preferably at 2B)

Ryan Garko...Is he the answer to this team lack of offense when Panda, Molina and Rowand are slumping????

I like the move since he's still relatively young and got upside since he hits well against LHP...

I would of preferred Victor Martinez but he's definitely not a bad pickup for the player they dealt...hopefully.

I hope they still make another move...a better 2B/LF....

Sabes has confirmed that he's working the phones for other players. This won't be the last move, I'm pretty sure of it.

Martinez would have cost us Alderson+quite a bit more

Best case scenario!

Garko was a great move. We improved 1B and the need for a bat; without giving up MadBum or Alderson.

Any one have info on Garko's contract?
