Similarly, what's to prevent them from still moving Washburn? They held out on the Yanks offer to take him in exchange for Igawa (who we don't need) and wanted a prospect in return. If they Yanks still want to do a salary dump for Washburn, then they can do so regardless of the deadline.

I wanted some moves made, but for the first time in a long time the reason for them not making moves is sound. They didn't panic and do something stupid in order to appease people.


If only the reasoning behind the lack of moves was as sound as yours. Remember, this team still thinks it can contend soon, and I fear that was part of the driving force behind not trading Washburn and Raul. Granted, we did trade Arthur Rhodes for the guy who is now our 2nd-best SP prospect in the whole organization, but I won't sleep any better knowing that.

Yeah, the logic w/r/t Ibanez clearly goes out the window if they resign the guy...which they may...
