Our pitching has just been crazy good. I'm really hoping Bedard can stay healthy this season because he is one of the best in the game. His curve is just flat out nasty.

Nice to have Branyan back. He can be torture against righties. I'm still hoping Sweeney gets a good number of at-bats against lefties.

Silva going today? That's a loss.

My knowledge of the minor leagues is not good.

Let's say Wash continues to pitch like this. We go from three top flight pitchers at the top of the rotation to an absolute liability in Silva, and what appears to be a rotating cast at the #5 spot. Is there anybody in Tacoma, or AA, that is anywhere near ready to come up? With Felix/Bedard/Wash at 1-2-3, even a marginal arm for a #4 would have Seattle looking mighty good for an extended run.

If there's nobody MLB-ready to call up later on, does somebody with a better knowledge of the overall game than myself know of arms available for a June trade if the M's find themselves still in contention? Who's on the block, and who might Seattle be interested in? Or do they stand pat and ride the Big 3 all season?

Not today! The guy's he's facing is a punching bag. It seemed obvious we'd score some runs today, and sure enough...5 runs through the first 4 innings so far.

Having Branyan back makes this lineup look completely different.

And...I hate to say it, but if you compare the way Griffey and Balentien are hitting the ball this year, which one would be more productive as a full time DH?

Up 6-3 now - it's looking good.

Make it 7-3. No. 8-3! It's early, but the Angels are in the sort of tailspin that makes you wonder if they'll be able to make something of this season.

This is shaping up to be a delicious day for a Seattle sports' fan. Let's close this one out, and hope that Washburn remains smoking hot for a sweep of the halos tomorrow.

How nice that would be. :)

Bulltalk wrote:Oh please hit-the-effing-ball this series. We have a real chance to hit the Angels when they're down. All we need is a strong performance out of Bedard, another good performance out of Washburn, and a high scoring and lucky performance when Silva starts and we're 7 games ahead of the Angels at 13-6.

Realistically speaking, two-out-of-three would be just fine and dandy. I really don't want to lose the series 1-2, or get swept. Opportunity is knocking here. I can't believe I actually find myself in the position of getting greedy about such things now. Who'd-a-thunk?

Hope I don't jinx anything by saying that your prayer's been answered. :D

Nevermind. Let me live. Aardsma came through. You guys would've wanted my head otherwise. :D

That was close, but a win's a win! If the bullpen's going to implode from time to time, I've fine with that so long as we happen to have a six run cushion. :D

Where the hell was Morrow? Aardsma gives me a heart attack everytime he's out there. Even when he had a 0.00 ERA, I wasn't confident in him.

Branyan is a beast. Damn, I love that guy. Sweeney/Branyan should be our first base platoon.

And Balentin > Griffey @ DH plz.

Indeed... Morrow didn't pitch yesterday. Why didn't he go today? It was a save opportunity.

Win today and we've already won as many games against the Angels this year as we did all of '08.

Let's put the smack-down-sweep on them today.
