Minnesota (27-28) @ Seattle (26-28)

Francisco Liriano (2-7, 6.60 ERA) vs. Felix Hernandez (5-3, 3.41 ERA)
Nick Blackburn (5-2, 3.50 ERA) vs. Jarrod Washburn (3-4, 3.22 ERA)
Kevin Slowey (8-1, 3.97) vs. Erik Bedard (4-2, 2.37 ERA)

1. Texas
2. Anaheim (3.5 GB)
3. Seattle (5.5 GB)
4. Oakland (8.5 GB)

Good pitchers all, although obviously Liriano is struggling like mad this season.

Someone else pointed out in the "Will we get over .500?" thread that we have a brutal stretch of games coming up at the end of the month, and I couldn't agree more. We need to continue winning series (we've won 3 of the last 4) and make up ground in the West before we hit the Dodgers/Yanks/Red Sox trifecta in late June.

Continuing the theme of blowing standout performances by our starters, the M's have nothing to show for a gem of a King Felix start. 1 run in 7 innings against a Minnesota pitcher with an ERA well over 6? Psah, you shouldn't have given up that 1 run, Felix. It proved to be too much for us to overcome.

I'm pretty sure we lead the world in swinging at pitches comically far outside the strike zone. Beltre's the ringleader, but it seems like an organization-wide pandemic.

They just arent a good hitting team, save for an occasional outburst the teams run production is near the bottom of MLB. I'm just looking forward to getting rid of Betancourt and Beltre, someone mentioned Lopez also but i think he's pretty decent and i think if need be he could move to 3rd.

As for Felix not getting any runs it sure wont help down the road when his contract is up.

Another slim-pickings outing for the offense, only this time we come out on top 2-1. 27-29 now, and 16 games left of this easier stretch of games to get back above .500.

M's win the rubber match 4-2 behind 3 solo HRs (Branyan, Lopez, Burke).

That's 4 of the last 5 series now that Seattle has taken, a testament to the starting pitching. Like I said previously, I thought this team was done after that slide at the beginning of May. But they're playing some good baseball right now... if they could only hit...

Our pitching has been out of this world good. I believe we're 2nd or 3rd in the majors in team ERA.

Branyan is a stud too. Nice series win. Oh, and Beltre; You suck. Deal with that fact and retire. Who the hell swings at a first pitch at their eyes with runners on first and second with no outs? Good job, moron.
