Damn it! The M's need a little winning streak somewhere along the line. They need to win 5 in a row, or 6 out of 7, or 7 out of 8 at some point. Maybe they just don't have that in them? Maybe it's always going to be more incremental success that keeps this team hanging around, if it does continue to do so? It seems they're always in danger of slipping back. You need such a streak at some point methinks to buy yourself a little breathing room.

Oh well. They're still doing quite well, all things considered. It's just that now we're looking at the last game of this series, and I feel like we've got to win it. I'm amazed by how long this team has remained in this limbo-zone, not quite able to make a push up into first place, and not quite falling back far enough from it to fold your hand on the idea of doing so.

So little margin for error with this team.

Props to Garrett Olson. Miguel Batista loaded the bases with no outs in the 7th, and Olson came in and gave up NOTHING. Struck out Markekis, then got a double play. Preserved the 2-0 M's lead. Game ball to Olson, if this score holds up.

In a case of irritating deja vu, Aardsma loads the bases with no one out in the 9th. M's up 3-0.

And right as I typed that, Adam Jones gets an infield single. 3-1 M's. No outs, bases juiced.

Yikes. Aardsma didn't have it today. Now 4-3 O's, still nobody out in the 9th. Runners on 1st and 2nd.

M's lose 5-3.

Nothing irritate me more than poor bullpen pitching. Last two days have been rough.

As I've said time and again, there's so little margin for error with this team in regards to remaining competitive for winning their division. As much as I was impressed and delighted by the M's performance on their recent brutal road trip, I am just as frustrated and disappointed by their performance in this series against the Orioles. Sorry M's, but you can't lose 2 out of 3 games to the Orioles at home when your teetering on the edge of falling out of the race. Can't happen.

This was the time for the M's to begin making a move, a 7 game homestand against the O's and the Rangers. BLAH! I think we might have to sweep the Rangers to keep me on board of this magical mystery tour. Boy, I didn't think they'd blow it like this right when they got back home.
