Detroit (6-3) @ Seattle (4-6)

First up? Jeremy Bonderman vs. Felix Hernandez. If the two of us combine for more than 3 runs consider me speechless.

Well, that's 6 so far in 4 innings. Not only that, but Rob Johnson with a bunt single :o :D

Apparently Rob Johnson ate his wheaties this morning. A nine pitch walk with the bases loaded.

I swear I confused Bonderman with Verlander in my head. The above prediction just makes me look like an ass.

Great win! 11 runs. How... unlike us.

Game two: Justin Verlander (0-0, 9.00) vs. Ryan Rowland-Smith (0-1, 5.26).

Love to get this one for a 4th straight win and a 2nd straight series win. AL West standings going into today:

Oakland 8-4
Texas 5-5 (2 GB)
Seattle 5-6 (2.5 GB)
LAA 4-7 (3.5 GB)

Texas is down 7-0 in the 5th in New York. It'd be nice if Baltimore could not be terrible for a night and take one from Oakland.

Top 3, 1-0 Seattle. Ichiro with a lead off double in the 1st, steals 3rd, Guti singles him home.

Bot 3, 2-0 Seattle. Ichiro with another lead off hit (this time a triple), Figgins hits a sac fly to center.

Top 6, 2-1 Mariners. Magglio destroyed a RRS pitch to left center in the 4th.

Ichiro is a HR away from the cycle.

M's win 4-2. 4 game win streak.

RRS gave up 2 in 6 IP. League picked up the win, Aardsma the save. Good pitching, clutch hitting. Back to .500.

What a great game to watch. Couple of things;

David Aardsma = Best closer in baseball.

Franklin Gutierrez = Our #3 hitter for the next half decade.

Oh, and Ichiro/Figgins is just so sick at the top of the order. Unstoppable. Those guys will always be on base.

Good times.

Max Scherzer (0-1, 1.64) vs. Ian Snell (0-1, 5.00)

Brynes replaces Bradley (sore calf) in left. Huzzah for the defense, unfortunate for the offense.

Top 7, 3-2 Tigers.

Horrible strike call on Figgins screws the M's out of a scoring opportunity in the 6th. Ichiro on first, 3-1 count to Figgins, the pitch misses by a solid 5-6 inches (confirmed by pitch tracer) but the umpire says its strike two. Ichiro runs on the next pitch, Figgins lines out to right, Ichiro doubled up at first.

So naturally, Guti smacks a double to center in the next at-bat. Would have scored both.

Lose 4-2. Had two runners on and no outs in the 8th, failed to score. That'll do it.
