Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
Brad Bergesen (0-1, 11.74) vs. Doug Fister (1-1, 1.50)
David Hernandez (0-2, 4.91) vs. Justin Vargas (1-1, 5.56)
Kevin Millwood (0-2, 2.89) vs. Felix Hernandez (1-0, 3.10)
Alright, no ****ing around... let's start piling up the wins. Very encouraging starts by Fister and Vargas last time out. Felix is Felix.
Bergesen got rocked for 5 runs in 3 IP his last time out against Tampa, Hernandez gave up 4 earned in 5 IP to the A's. And, the O's have won 2 games all year. Let's be real. We should beat them.
Welcome back, Adam Jones.

Re: Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
Speaking of which, did someone sweep away all the regulars? We had a lot more Seattle fans here last season, and that was coming off a 101 loss season. I thought this place would be packed with all the buzz going into the season.

People are here. Wait until the season is going along and Cliff Lee comes back and this place will have a lot more life. I have season tickets so I try to be at most of the home games making it hard to post during game times.

This team is way more fun to watch now that they've started hitting and working counts. Home runs are nice, but these rallies made of walks and singles have to be way more irritating for other team's fans.

As much as I am hoping for a mid season trade to bring in a bat I like Casey Kotchman. He is a guy that should be able to hit. When he was drafted and first came up with the angles people thought he was a guy that would hit with a nice average with some power. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a nice break out year.

Re: Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
Kotchman is solid, for sure. He's really good defensively and he (suprisingly) has some pop in his bat. But as you mentioned; A big upgrade offensively would be welcomed.
Great game last night though. Fister is a stud. I've liked him from the moment we called him up last season.
Offense benefited greatly from that 3B error that would have led to a DP in the third. We probably only score 1 run if Baltimore knew how to play defense.
LETS WIN GAME 2, FELLAS!

Fister's definitely not going to go down quietly when Lee and Bedard get back. He's earning his spot in the rotation, that's for sure.

Re: Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
I'm starting to wonder what exactly is going to happen once (or IF) Lee and Bedard come back and remain healthy.
I personally would roll with Felix/Lee/Bedard/Fister/RRS, but I can't see Snell getting bumped out that easily.
If Fister continues to pitch well to the tune of a sub 4 ERA, they can't possibly remove him from the rotation. He seems like the obvious choice since he has the least experience, but its all about production.
We'll see. Nothing wrong with quality depth though.

Re: Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
We'll either have an amazing set of long relievers or we'll try to deal for an upgrade in left or DH, IMO. Maybe Ian Snell/Jose Lopez for... well, I don't know. But maybe Z's got a plan.
Too add to our major league depth, Garrett Olson has yet to give up a run at Tacoma (only 10 IP, but still
) and Luke French is 1-0 with a 1.47 ERA in 18.1 IP. Both got their feet wet with the Mariners last season.

Speaking of Tacoma, 1B Mike Carp has put up some impressive power numbers in the early going, and SS Josh Wilson is swinging a hot bat.

MLB announces they have withdrawn Cliff Lee's 5 game suspension after appeal. I had kind of forgotten about that w/ all his injury stuff. I believe he's still on track to start May 1 or 2 against Texas?

Re: Baltimore (2-11) @ Seattle (6-7)
I think the drop of the suspension could actually move his debut up to late April. Not COMPLETELY sure on that though.
As for Mike Carp; I've always liked the kid. I was hoping he'd make the MLB roster this season. Drop Sweeney and add that kid. Seriously, whats the downside? Josh Wilson and Garret Olson are nobodies to me.They can be dropped for all I care.
As for the game tonight; Damn, Vargas is dealin these last few starts. I've been a hater of his for a while now, but he's producin so far. Our pitchin has been filthy, especially Aardsma in relief.
Lets sweep this b*tch tomorrow.

Millwood is a career 8-11 with a 5.08 ERA against Seattle, but he's been pitching well in the early going.
Nice to have Felix on the hill when looking for the sweep. Win tonight and we can officially stamp this 7-2 homestand a success. From 2-5 to 9-7 with a win.

Tonight will be my first night seeing Felix pitch live! This is already my third game of the year...

I called the sweep! I'm a psychic!
Great pitching performance from Felix. Damn is the dude amazing.
Big ups to Tui on the hustle to second base to keep the inning alive before Jack Wilson delivered the knockout blow.
We are doing well right now! Keep it up, fellas!
