Ackley to Tacoma

Post#1 » by TTown » Thu Jul 15, 2010 2:27 am

Per LL, he's hitting .304 since May, with a .420+ OBP. Terrible first month, but it's nice to see him adjusting so well to professional ball/wood bats/changing positions. Depending how he does over the next month and a half, it'll be interesting to see if he gets a September call up.

And he hit a home run in his first at bat. I'm really hoping he gets things dialed in and gets a September call up. Seeing Smoak/Ackley/Saunders finish the year strong would give me a lot of hope for 2011.

Starting to rake, is it a given he'll get called up in September?

Hard to tell...Z's comments about Ackley have been pretty vague to this point. But I wonder if having Ackley's minor league manager in Seattle makes it more likely?

I don't know. For some reason, I have a feeling that Ackley stays in the minors this entire season. If he does get called up, it wont be anything more than pinch hitting duties here and there.

Next season though? If he does well in the spring, I could see him making the club.

I'd get him a hundred at bats or so in September and have him ready to go on opening day next year. I guess that is based on them moving Lopez or Figgins at some point in the off season otherwise he may be back in Tacoma next year.

The reason I don't see Ackley play much at all (if any) this season is because of Figgins in Lopez. What would we do with them? Don't see either guy sitting on the bench and/or DH'ing, so I guess if we move Ackley into that DH spot in September, but that'd be the only option.

Not that I'd oppose it. As I've mentioned earlier too, I am ALL FOR moving Lopez too after the season.

At this point one of the only things that Lopez does well is defense why make him just another terrible mariners DH?
LaMarcus for Heisman!!!

Roster:Lillard/Mathews/Batum*/LA/Lopez

*Its not pronounced with a !@#$ing s, he's french. It's Nico-la, not Nico-las.

Not sure if we'll see Smoak and Ackley with the Ms this month but their recent success at the plate down in Tacoma tells me they are near ready. Any doubt they are not with the team when the season opens next year?
