Olivo was great. Vargas did a good job too.

I still don't know why Wright is our 8th inning man.

Wright seems to be the relief variant of Jason Vargas. He has long stretches of solid appearances, then hits the skids and can't get anyone out. He'll bounce back and look great for a stretch, then the cycle repeats. He barely gave up a run all of April, hit a rough patch in early May, went scoreless his next eight appearances to close the month out, and now is terrible again.

Yep. But that's one of the inherent risks of being a pitcher that induces contact. Sometimes those groundballs get elevated or go where the fielder isn't, and that's just how it goes.

Wright's not the great pitcher he appeared to be early on, nor is he the bad pitcher he's looked like the last couple games. He's just a decent middle of the road innings eater. A good guy to have in the pen, but at this point Chris Ray should be the 8th inning guy IMO.

Laffey or Pauley in the 8th, please.

Pauley's doing well in a role where he pitches multiple innings. Laffey's probably best used against LHB.

In April/March, Ray gave up 10 runs and opponents on average were hitting .433/.469/.667 against him and pretty much everyone left him for dead. Since then, he's given up 2 runs; Opponents hit .185/.290/.222 against him in May, and .125/.125/.125 in a couple appearances in June. Ray's done in May/June what Wright was doing in April/March

Laffey's line this season is .228/.304/.327, which he really hasn't strayed from regardless of the month. For me, Ray's simply been the better pitcher of the two since his horrible first month.

Well, I think Pauley is our best reliever, so I want him in there against anyone/everyone if it is a tight game late.

I guess I'm still bitter over Ray's HORRIBLE start. I looked up his stats and he really has been a lot better as of late, which is what I expected coming into this season because I've always thought he had a terrific arm. If we go with Ray, that's fine, but I have a short leash with ALL relievers.
