So...we're playing the Cubs now...

Post#1 » by PhilipNelsonFan » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:13 am

The Cubbies haven't been playing well this year, but they do have Sweet Lou on the other side and there's no way we can overlook them.

The first pitching matchup: Jarrod Washburn vs. Rich Hill. Yeeouch.

BTW, for those of you who don't know, I'm a Cubs mod, so feel free to post in that (elaborate) game thread, in which case I will edit all posts and warn you all for trolling. 8)

I smell ignorance.

Good luck to both teams. Both have been playing pretty good baseball recently.

...and the Mariners mod will repay the favor. :D

Hey, why not a sweep? Hill's the perfect kind of pitcher for the M's to face so I think they have a good shot at taking the first game at the very least.

We've got a 3-2 lead going to the top of the 8th. All we need is for Green (Who I might add has been fantastic this season) to go one more inning and Putz will take care of the rest. :D

EDIT: Johjima currently leads our team in batting @ .339. I never thought he'd be this good when we signed him. :o

EDIT: Damn you Green! :banghead:

EDIT: I love you, George! :D

I think I nearly had a heart attack on that play where Vidro scored because of the dropped ball at the plate.

Nice collapse by the Cubs so far. Their catcher muffs an easy out at the plate, and the pitcher follows that up by not covering first base.

Lol if Putz blows atleast a two run lead, I'll shot myself. :D

Its crazy though. This is the first time in a long while that even when the game is tied, or we're in trouble, I still believe that our guys will find a way to win.

Oh, and btw, Burke is God.

YES! That's the first time I've been nervous during a Putz appearance in a loooong time, but he came through. And the Angels lost too!

Ditto. Putz was making me nervous, but he's proven himself to be too damn great as a closer to start losing confidence in him.

So we're 3 back of the Angels (I believe) and 1 game back of the Wild Card. We're doin great!

Oh, and big ups to Eric O'Flaherty. He was definitely player of the game for us. 2 2/3 of shutdown relief work when we really needed it. The bullpen has been getting worked like a cheap chinese whore.

What a finish.

I had to warn myself twice on the Cubs board, it was so heated.

Your all red post cracked me up...

What a great game. Oh, how I did not want to lose that one...if you're going to play extra innings and burn your bullpen, you better come away with a win.

Nice to see that board hopping BTW. I wondered how long it would take for the new MLB boards to get going, and it looks like the Cubs board is off to a good start.

Oh yeah. About a half-dozen posters frequent it, and there's a lot of venting going on...so, basically, plenty of posting to be had. The Cubs and the Yankees and Red Sox boards will probably lead RealGM Baseball into legitimacy.

They just said this on ESPN and I didnt even realize it, but, during our 5-game win streak, all our wins have come in our last at-bat. Damn. :o

Here's hoping that Miguel Batista comes out strong tomorrow. We need him to go atleast into the 7th.

You'll have a hard time convincing me that Brandon Morrow is learning how to become a better pitcher right now.

Good series guys. Every game was a close game.
Your team looks really good and hopefully we will meet again. (World Series ;))
