Texas (10-12) @ Seattle (11-11)

Post#1 » by TTown » Thu Apr 29, 2010 10:35 pm

Colby Lewis (3-0, 3.80) vs. Cliff Lee (0-0, 0.00) on Friday. CLIFF LEE!

Well, until Bedard works his way back (and hell, perhaps not even then) we couldn't have asked for a better pitching rotation in a series. Lee, Fister, Felix this weekend.

Tomorrow is the start of 9 game home stand, 3 w/ Tex, 3 w/ TB, 3 w/ LAA. Tampa might be the best team in baseball. We're 7-2 at home in the early going this year, so hopefully we can break out of this 'hovering around .500' thing. I'd love to sweep Texas and take the other two series, getting to something like 19-13 before hitting the road again (@ Baltimore, @ Tampa, @ Oak). Wishful thinking, perhaps, with this offense, but... CLIFF LEE!

Worst. Offense. Ever.

Lee was incredible, living up to every bit of offseason hype. The game was 0-0 heading into the 12th, then Texas scored two, the go-ahead off a wild pitch.

M's had the bases loaded with one out in both the 10th and 11th innings.

Our DH situation is pitiful. Griffey is a groundout waiting to happen, and Sweeney is completely ineffective. When they pinch hit for Wilson I was bitching to my friends because the M's don't have a backup SS on their bench. Sweeney does nothing, Tui gets pushed to SS, and then he makes a poor throw that costs the team.

The bench needs a makeover. Push Griffey to the bench, cut Sweeney, bring up Hannahan/Jo. Wilson, demote Tui, recall Langerhans, and push Bradley to DH.

I still say send Snell or Vargas + prospect + potential cash to KC for Jose Guillen. He's in the last year of a 3 year deal, KC may be interested in locking up a young starter. The AL West is so darn mediocre right now I'd like to bring in a bat or two now and create some separation before the Angels start figuring it out.

Well, Bradley needs to hit a couple bombs today to make good on his terrible, ugodly fielding. I'm actually expecting Felix to punch him in head when they get to the dugout.

Bases loaded, 1 out, Rob Johnson hits a pathetic grounder to the shortstop, double play.

This team is nothing if not frustrating.

Awesome. The M's send Shawn Kelley down to AAA so they can keep Jesus Colome, and Colome comes in and promptly gives up a base hit which leads to a run, and now has walked the catcher.

That's two nights in a row Wak has pinch-hit for Jack Wilson late...with a guy who doesn't hit any better than Jack Wilson, and without an actual SS on the roster to play the field.

Guti's 9th inning at bat was one of the worst I've seen in quite some time, and that's taking into consideration Eric Byrnes' 11th inning debacle last night. WHY ARE YOU SHOWING BUNT DOWN 3 RUNS? Francisco can't find the plate so you KNOW he's going to try to plant a fastball threw the zone early. The FOX analysts took him to task for it.

Lopez has a 2-0 count with Ich and Figgins on and pops it up in the infield.

Top 5, 1-0 Mariners in game three. Fister is dealin' once again.

American League, National League, Dominican League, Japanese League, Mexican League -- I don't care where it is, we lead THE WORLD in loading the bases and getting nothing out of it. And more often than not, it seems like Rob Johnson makes the final out.

Aardsma blows the save in the 9th, Rangers win in the 11th. Second incredible performance by a starting pitcher we've blown this series.

If we were even mediocre on offense, we'd have carved out a nice little lead in the West already. We have 9 HRs through May 2. Single digits. 5 individual players around the league have 9 or more HRs so far all by themselves.

Well....I was right about the sweep, atleast. :-?

I don't think I'm going to watch this team anymore until Jack Z does something about the offense.

Wak nailed it (paraphrase): "If you would have told me that we'd pitch 26 scoreless innings this series and we'd be swept, I'd think you were crazy."
