Rubber match vs. Minnesota tonight

We lost 5-4 Monday. Kotch hit into a very unfortunate DP that ended a quasi-impressive 9th inning rally. We won 7-1 yesterday, Vargas owned. He's 4-2 with 2.92 ERA at the moment.

20-31, an even 7 games back at the moment. Cliff Lee going tonight. Let's win a series, eh?

Of note, our offense of late:

vs. Detroit, 5 runs
vs. Detroit, 5 runs
@ LAA, 8 runs
@ LAA, 1 run
@ LAA, 7 runs
Minn, 4 runs
Minn, 7 runs
Minn, ?

The bats seem like they're kinda sorta trying to come around. Weaver shut us down in LA, but the O has been quietly doing pretty well lately; at least well enough to win games and get us back into this thing, if the bullpen hadn't become public enemy #1 down in LA. Not saying we don't need CONSIDERABLE upgrades in a couple spots, but Lopez is starting to hit all hope may not be lost. But a solid reliever or two are also a must before the trade deadline if we want a chance.

We win 2-1 in 10 innings. Lee was great, 8 IP, 1 ER.

Apparently this is a 4 game series, so no series win yet. But we do have Felix on the hill today. Twins have Carl Pavano. I'd LOVE to take 3 of 4 from one of the best teams in baseball.

Texas won yesterday, so we're still 7 back.

Mariners with the fourth game 4-1. Felix was great, matching Lee's 8 IP, 1 ER from last night. Vargas/Lee/Felix made a potent Twins offense look like... well, the Mariners offense.

3 game win streak, Texas lost so we're now 6 back. 3 at home vs. the Angels. After the debacle last weekend, I hope this team is thinking payback.

Should see Snell tomorrow I imagine. He wasn't fantastic last Sunday, but he left with a 7-2 lead. Not his fault the 'pen folded, but hopefully he can go longer into the game. Fister/Vargas Saturday and Sunday.

A terrible series against the Angels, and no one cares. Amazing how quick apathy sets in, isn't it? Way to go, M's.

It's baseball season?

Damn, must have forgotten.

I figured this series would be all kinds of brutal when I heard Fister was going on the DL. Nothing says "oh, ****" like sending out Snell and RRS in back to back starts.

RRS actually didn't do half bad, though. The bullpen, however...

I went to two of the LAA games, and they completely sucked. And I had seats in the front row yesterday...if anyone ever says I don't laugh at myself, well, here's me getting tagged by a hard hit ball [thanks, Abreu] in the third inning:

Hahaha, that's awesome, Sweezo.

If I were you, I might have to blow that image up, frame it, and hang that badboy up in my room. 8-)
