Yankees

Post#1 » by TTown » Wed Jun 30, 2010 3:23 am

I no longer have the drive to post threads for every series, but we're in New York this week so what the hell.

Lee throws his 3rd straight CG. The offense roughs up previously 10-1 Phil Hughes. Rob Johnson had as good of a game as he'll ever have as a major leaguer. M's get a win in Yankee Stadium.

7-0 in game two. Felix with a CG 2-hitter. One of their hits was an easily catchable fly ball Figgs lost in the sun. Total ownership on Felix's part.

Four HRs in one game? The Mariners did that? Wouldn't have believed the box score if I didn't watch it for myself. Saunders smacked two, Bradley and Branyan each had one.

Isn't this what we all envision following the trade for Cliff Lee? Dominating pitching from the front end of the rotation followed by timely hitting.

Great game last night. I like Saunders showing some pop, and to be honest, it's good seeing Branyan back in a Mariners uniform doing what he does well.

Weeeeeeeeeell we lost the finale, but that was expected with RRS going up against Sabathia. Still, RRS only gave up 2 over 6 innings. Nice outing. Branyan had a big two run single to tie it in the 8th, but Aardsma continues to be completely ineffective when he's not in a save situation.

On to Motown for 3 with the Tigers. We should see Fister, Vargas, and Lee. Then we're home for 14 of our next 18, but it won't be easy: 3 with KC (well, that should be easy), 4 with the Yanks, 4 @ LAA, 3 with ChiSox, 4 with Boston.

In another news, it sounds like Bedard's turn in Tacoma went well enough, so hopefully he'll be up for the KC series.

As well as the team has played the last few weeks, it's lead to nothing in terms of the standings.

Still, it's nice to have some reason for optimism. Lee, Aardsma, and Lopez may lead to some decent pieces at the deadline, Branyan gives up some power [next year's 1B if he can stay healthy?], and Saunders and Figgins are beginning to look comfortable.
