Tampa Bay (29-26) @ Seattle (28-27)

Post#1 » by TTown » Thu Jun 2, 2011 5:04 pm

James Shields (5-3, 2.15) vs. Felix Hernandez (5-4, 3.19)
Andy Sonnanstine (0-1, 4.39) vs. Jason Vargas (3-3, 4.50)
Jeremy Hellickson (6-3, 2.80) vs. Doug Fister (3-5, 3.24)
Wade Davis (4-5, 4.52) vs. Erik Bedard (3-4, 3.41)

Well, it's June, so hopefully Felix starts getting it going. Historically, May is his worst month. And it's not like he's been 'bad', either, just that undefinable 'not Felix' level which is still better than most MLB pitchers but nonetheless a keen Mariner eye can tell something's just a little off. Vargas is due for a good start. Based on early 2011 returns alone, slight edge to Tampa in the pitching matchups until we get to the finale.

Two teams with winning records are playing in June, and we're one of them!

Yeah, I have no idea what is going on. Shields has been one of the best pitchers in baseball all year, and we just destroyed him. If they win tonight this will be a win to be extremely proud of.

I hate when we use our monthly allotment of home runs in the first two days!

Unfortunately they have Hamilton and Cruz back; they're incredibly tough to beat when they are at full strength.

Don't look know but I think we are only a game back in the wild card standings...

4-0 M's in the bottom of the 5th. Vargas is sharp so far.

Bad news, Rangers win again. Need to win tonight to remain 1.5 games back.

After the win, the M's are now [finally] at a +3 run differential on the season. It's been a remarkably quick turnaround...

This series could NOT have started any better. Hot damn! I'm loving Mariners baseball right now.

The rangers look sharp. I wish we had a guy like Chavez :( ... oh well, we got SMOAK who's a beast.

After Olivo hit that 2-run HR I really thought we'd come back in the 9th. It had been that kind of homestand.

I'm really confident heading into this series finale. Bedard has been nearly unhittable his last handful of starts. A win here would be terrific.

Before the series started, I was going to be happy with a split because the Rays had some good pitchers going and they are a solid club. However, after winning the first two games, I wanna take this!

I'm not really worried about what the Rangers are doing. I've believed all along that our best shot was at the wild card, and we are definitely in the race!

Knee-jerk reaction to the Halman call-up: good call!

2-hit day for Halman, both opposite-field hits, and the latter a 2-run triple to break a 3-3 tie in the 7th. That's a big-time clutch hit. His previous hit helped string along a 3-run rally in the 3rd (?).

you really think we are going to have a better record than the Red Sox or Yankees at the end of the season? I doubt it.

God **** damn it! Eric Wedge is the biggest idiot in the history of baseball.

Why the hell do you bring in Jamey Wright? See, this is what annoys me about baseball. He goes with Wright because "HE IS OUR 8TH INNING GUY". Christ.

So what about the Rays having 3 straight lefties coming up to start the inning? Or the fact that Laffey is simply a better pitcher than Wright?

I am so pissed off right now. ZERO reason Wright should have been brought in.
