Seattle Mariners v. Cleveland Indians

So long, Oakland A's...it was a bit boring watching the M's play you every night, but since you were a team we could beat more often than not you will be missed.

It will be nice to see how the M's do against another team that has very little to do with the AL West. Cleveland's another semi-young team that seems like the right level of competition for us.

So far, not so good...Millwood gave up a run early, and the M's went down 1-2-3 quickly. But I guess that's why they play 8 innings, not one.

2-1 mariners, bottom 3.

jaso just murdered a masterson fastball.

3-1 m's, bot 4

we're doing pretty well against a very good pitcher tonight. smoak, seager, and saunders all singled to load the bases, and ryan just walked to drive in smoak. montero's been the only out this inning, and he hit a rope........... just right to the left fielder.

bases juiced for jaso.

5-1, bot 4

jaso plunked on the shin. gotta sting... but it drives in a run. figgins hits a sac fly to score saunders from 3B.

3-3 night for Smoak with the RBI single!

I triple-goddamned-dog dare Wedge to start Olivo tomorrow. Seriously. I don't care if the Indians are sending up a LHP or a RHP...keep Jaso out there.

and masteron is chased with two runners on and seager at the plate.

very refreshing to see us taking advantage offensively. both because we're the mariners and we don't often do such things, and for the fact that masterson has done really well against us recently.

Holy **** it's only a one run lead now thanks to Kevin Millwood turning into a batting tee.

yep, that really got out of hand quickly.

Well, that's an inexcusable loss. It takes a special amount of effort to piss away a 6 run lead in the span of one half inning.

Jaso nearly had a grand slam to end it on a positive note, but JUST missed.

i thought old man millwood looked downright decent down in texas. i was not expecting that kind of a meltdown from him.

i thought lookout landing had a great piece today on michael saunders and his inability to do anything with four great, hittable pitches in his final at bat. that was the final nail in the coffin, imo.

Figgins' leadoff HR!!!

Agreed. That was pretty damning. When Guti comes back, I don't think I'll feel all that upset if Saunders' playing time goes away. Give Casper Wells the at bats and see what he can do with it.

Now Ichiro with a HR! What the hell...

and for those keeping score at home, olivo not only started at catcher, he's already committed an error and harmlessly popped up to 1B with two on to halt a scoring threat. fight on, miguel olivo.

is smoak hurt? seems odd to let a guy rest after a breakthrough 4-hit night.

Hamstring tightened up on him when he was legging out his last base hit last night, so he gets a precautionary night off.

olivo is like a collapsing star, and nothing can escape his gravity. seager and saunders get base hits in the 2nd, olivo hits into an inning ending double play. what an irritatingly repetitive joke this has become.

I fear Wedge will just keep trotting him out there until Jack Z takes that option away from him.
