Austin Jackson to Seattle

Post#1 » by BayAreaMadSkill » Thu Jul 31, 2014 8:22 pm

We give up Nick Franklin.

Not a bad move at all, IMO. I'm not a huge Jackson fan, but he's definitely an upgrade over what we have been throwing out there.

I'm glad we didnt give up a ton for a dude like Price. We dont need anymore pitching. Our offense is atrocious.

I am a fan of Austin Jackson. It's hard to find a CF who's good both in the field and at the plate, and we just got one for a block 2B prospect who's struggled this season. I am a big fan of this trade. Denorfia was a nice, cheap addition as well.

I'm not sure it changes things much for this season but I like the setup for next year.

yeah, same. franklin's best position is blocked by our best player for the next 10 years. i don't want another converted infielder-turned-corner-outfielder. even if jackson bolts after 2015, we'll likely get 1.5 years of major league production out of him that we'd never get out of franklin.

ackley's been on a ridiculous tear since the AS break. mcclendon has already moved him up, but it'll be interesting to see if he bats 2nd (over taylor) tomorrow when jackson gets here, or if he opts to gives kyle some protection down the line.

we'll see... at least august/september will be exciting, which is a rarity for us. i've been of the opinion chris young's been pitching on borrowed time for awhile now. elias has been excellent his last two outings, but he was very bumpy the month prior. walker? paxton? any offense? we'll see!

Austin Jackson was 63rd best defensive CF in the Majors among CFers who raked at least 100 plate appearances last season. considering his bat hasn't given him any SLG or OBP while posting a pretty pedestrian BA ( not that this old traditional stat is a make or break number) I think the mariners can do better.
ehhhhh f it.
