Post#1 » by Bulltalk » Sat Apr 12, 2008 7:30 pm

...as in who you would want to see coming to the plate with the bases loaded and nobody out, for example?

1) Ichiro
2) Beltre
3) Ibanez
4) Lopez
5) Betancourt
6) Jojhima
7) Vidro
8) Wilkerson
9) Sexson

....or something like that. :)

RIGHT NOW, it would be:

1. Ichiro
2. Ibanez
3. Betancourt
4. Lopez
5. Beltre
6. Johjima
7. Vidro
8. Wilkerson
9. Sexson

I love Betancourt, and would have full confidence in him, but Ichiro and Raul are our offensive studs. Lopez has given me confidence thus far, and even though I like Beltre, he still worries me like crazy at the plate.

Despite a few flip-flops, I more or less agree with ex-hippie.

Part of the discussion is certainly what you expect to have happen with the bases loaded. With Sexson, there's always the three of four runs coming in to score, and we've seen him hit his share of slams in a grey/blue uniform.

That's just what I was coming back here to say. The question was about what you want with the bases loaded. I want the potential for extra bases in that situation. And although Ichiro's ability to get on base with a slow roller can make for some exciting baseball, it's not the best way to drive runners in. (What with the infield playing in, etc.)
