Interesting. I wouldn't be against it as long as we don't give up too much. Not like we have much to give up anyways.
I almost had a tear in my eye when he came back to play last year....
Could be a good pr stunt.

He'll be a free agent at the end of the season if Cincy (or whatever team acquires him) doesn't pick up his $16.5 million option. I'd prefer to wait for that, rather than trade something of value in what appears to be a lost season anyway.

Nothing like trading players of value for an old, dead, corner outfielder. That

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Bavesi were to trade either Clement or Wlad the Impaler for Jr.

As much as I would like to see Junior back with the M's, I don't think he is the answer to our offensive woes. Plus, I have no idea where he would play with Wlad in RF. Factor in the fact that you have to give up a prospect or two or for him, waiting in the offseason would be a better idea.

Normally, I wouldn't think it would take much to acquire a 38 year old OF with injury problems who's batting .244 and is owed $16 million or so this year. So adding him as a DH is no problem for me.
However, we have a GM that has demonstrated an inability to adequately judge how much his trading chips and trading targets are really worth on the open market. So the idea of adding Griffey terrifies me...especially since Cincy may see Seattle as desperate to add Junior b/c of the ensuing boost in revenue he'd provide here that he wouldn't provide elsewhere.

Obviously, he's not as good as he used to be, but he is still a very productive player, but I'm not so sure if he's the best choice for Mariners.....

well, from this mariners' front office anything is expected.
it would be nice to have him back, but it would be more of an emotional thing that a sports thing.

Sending scouts to watch a player is usually no big deal, but since we have people watching Griffey play and a need to put people in the seats, I wonder if this rumor is actually probably...?
Has anyone seen Griffey play this season? How's he look defensively? Would putting Griffey in LF and moving Ibanez to DH be a good thing defensively or not so much?
