Carlos silva calls out teammates

Carlos called out the guys again last night after they lost to the Rays. It's sort of a tradition to not name any names but accuse some players of being selfish and not wanting to win. Not sure who he is taling about so someone could speculate who that or those players would be. The thing i find interesting is Silva is a pitcher who has am ERA of about six that is what he had to show for his work last night. He should probably preface his little tirade by saying ' I stink and so does..........'

too bad we have to keep this guy (big binding contract). Man, Bavasi, you SCREWED US OVER! I thought Bedard was bad for the clubhouse.....

The thing that irks me is this seems like a veteran with a large guaranteed contract perhaps calling out some of the younger players who probably are more concerned with individual stats in order to secure themselves a future in the league next season. What a douche.

yea. a good teammate is able to put himself in his teammate's shoes. What exactly are the Mariners playing for? Wins? The team is much more concerned with evaluating talent and preparing for next year while this season is all but lost...

i agree, it it would have been felix i would understand, but silva? he should know he's a real bad pitcher that hasn't helped the M's to win, he should know better...

As a Rays fan, it was hard to watch Silva.
He's not very good.

A good response:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... one12.htmlAsked if he agreed with Silva's basic premise, Ibanez said, "There's no way of telling. How do you tell if a guy is playing for himself? I don't think that's a fair comment, to be honest. I just don't see that. And if I did see it, I wouldn't tell you. If I had a problem with someone, I'd walk up and tell him. That's how I'd approach it."
Raul rules. And if he had just added "plus, Carlos Silva sucks and has no business talking about anyone else," he'd be my favorite player of all time.

Ibanez should be the voice of the team rather than a stiff like Silva for sure. I think there is a differance between a team that may appear to not care or supposedly being selfish and a team that just isnt very good. Guys like Betancourt and to some degree young guys like Clement(defensively) and Balentein just dont know what they're doing out there.

Riggleman had some interesting comments too, basically saying Silva had no business doing what he did.

Our fearless leader is, apparently, headed to the DL. I didn't know "sucking" was a legitimate injury...

When you look at that foursome that Bavasi brought in of Silva,Batista,Washburn and Bedard you have to wonder if that isnt the worst set of pitching moves in the history of the sport.
