Because of Lackey's two-pitch effort the other night, he's been inserted into the opener of our series. We'll be seeing Lackey, Saunders, Santana, and Matt Palmer, who is 4-0.

Does anybody know if Bedard is schedule to make his next start? We're countering with Felix, Wash, Jaku, and a TBA. I'd feel a lot better about this series if Bedard's hammy was good to go.

We showed good signs of life against Boston. Let's keep it up.

3-0 M's going into the 3rd. Napoli's throwing error gives the M's two in the second. Wash has started well.

Good start to the series.

I will consider it impressive if we can take three of four from the halos and get back to .500. It would wash the bad taste out of my mouth the week and a half previous to the Boston series. That sent me into a hole to cover myself.

So, I must confess something quickly.

I attended the Mariners' first game of the series with the Red Sox. The Lester-Jakubauskas pitching matchup. The one where Jakubauskus threw the Mariners into a hole early, and then Ichiro HIT TWO F**KING HOME RUNS to bring them back out.

That was pretty magical, by far the best I've ever felt about a baseball game. I watched most of this game with a girl who was a die-hard Sox supporter (but actually from Boston! So it's OK), and I offered her my deepest sympathies. And it felt good to do so.

Whatever happened to the team I watched that night?

well, felix has always had pretty bad mays, he has a losing record by far...

For the first time I've got this little tick in the back of my head about Felix. I wonder just a little bit about his mental approach to the game. That he's got great stuff is undeniable. That when he's on and things are going his way he has that aura of dominance.

Where I worry about Felix is when he's faced with a little adversity, how he pitches when he's not at his best, or after he makes a few mistakes. He seems to get soft at such times, lose his mental focus. It's like he can't let it go when he's not at his best, or he's just made a few mistakes, and then concentrate fully on what's now before him, and figure out how to salvage the most out of it.

I kind of expected this out of him in years past, youth and all. But I was hoping he would turn the corner this year, learn how to pitch better when he's not at his best, learn how to remain focused after making a few mistakes, or getting hit hard. I wanted to see a Felix who pitched better this year when things weren't going his way.

I don't know.

Jaku does what Felix could not, and that's act like an ace. 2 hits in 6 IP, 0 ER, as the M's beat LAA 1-0, snapping a two game skid. Great bullpen work to close things out.

It seems like Jaku is either brilliant, or he'll give up 9 ERs.

Oh, i've longed since checked out of Felix' camp. The problem w/ him is that he's a classic Jekyll & Hide pitcher. He's either dominant, or horrid. There's seemingly no in between w/ Felix. Give me someone who is consistent w/ less stuff (e.g. Joe Saunders) than someone who looks like a Cy Young candidate every other outing. To that effect, even Bedard is more effective than Felix.

It's getting to the point where you can count on Felix getting pounded in the 1st inning and throwing 60 by the 1st 2 innings.

Trade bait.

Last night was pathetic. Why do you have Aardsma walk a batter when second and third are full? There was two outs. Crappy call by Wakamatsu. Then to walk in a run when the next batter was supposed to be an easier out. I can't believe the Angels won the game with two outs.

Some of the pitches Aardsma threw to the last batter of the game were strikes IMO and the EQC tracer thought so too. It doesn't matter though because he gave up the hit. He completely fell apart.

I like Wakamastu but that whole inning was handled very poorly. The walks, putting Aardsma in to begin with after pitching the previous couple nights...
