Chicago White Sox (57-55) at Seattle Mariners (58-53)

Post#1 » by slaterbug » Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:34 am

Mon, Aug 10, 10:10 pm EDT: Luke French (2-2, 3.93) vs Gavin Floyd (9-6, 3.91)
Tue, Aug 11, 10:10 pm EDT: Doug Fister (0-0, 0.00) vs. J. Danks (9-8, 4.23)
Wed, Aug 12, 10:10 pm EDT: Felix Hernández (12-4, 2.84) vs. Mark Buehrle (11-6, 3.89)

This should be another great series with both teams matching up pretty evenly. I'm looking forward to seeing how Doug Fister goes in his first start and i'm thinking the M's win this series 2-1.

Go Seattle :D

Who the hell is Doug Fister? :o

Felix vs Buehrle should be sweet. Must win series though.

On Tuesday, the Seattle Mariners will send Doug Fister to the mound to start versus the Chicago White Sox. It will be the the 12th different starting pitcher the club has sent out there in 2009, but Fister probably struts out there as the least known commodity of the bunch, so I'll see if I can help some.

Fister, 25, is a tall, lanky right-hander out of Fresno State that the M's drafted in round seven three summers ago. He's typically been in the starting rotation in the minors, but has dabbled in relief as well, including this season in Triple-A Tacoma.

Fister will come at hitters with an average fastball, sitting 86-90 mph, and generally with decent sink. He can create good plane with his height and high arm slot, but doesn't stay on top consistently, flattening out his fastball and making it extremely hittable.

His changeup, clocked in the low-80s, has improved this season and his curve is a pitch he's a little bit more confident in than in the past, but all three offerings are below-average major league pitches.

Yeah should be a sweet matchup, hopefully Felix gets back to his top stuff.

M's leading 2-0 so far after 4. French has thrown a one hitter.

Well, French looked good...until he hit 70 pitches or so. Then he lost his command.

Still, thanks to a couple bombs by Johjima and Branyan we might take a win here. BTW...if anyone saw Saunders' steal and subsequent run scored, for a guy his height he's just plain fast. He seems pretty slender in person...wonder if he tries to add some muscle or stay slender to keep his speed?

Hell, Saunders is fast for ANYONE, tall guy or not. Dude really is quite an athlete. He's a hell of an outfielder too.

Nice win though. That Branyan bomb was just mammoth, and then Kenji destroyed his as well. Lowe + Aardsma right now is just flat out sick.

Woooo!

Somebody has to post about Griffey's 14th inning single to win 1-0. But once again, Boston and Anaheim both win.

Just watched the highlights of the game, and wow, that pickoff of Podsednik by Rob Johnson in the 10th inning was sick. Flat out sick.
