Those plus minus stats also favored Josh Green at times, so doesn't mean a thing. This team closed out well minus Klay last year, and now suck at it. Golden State didn't even make the playoffs last year with him having a prominent role, now are #1. Sometimes the obvious story is the truth
Those stats are very suspicious about single player impact, but are totally valid for lineups. Lineups with Klay are working, if you like it or not.
Didn't we hear the same complaining about Kyrie, that he ruined chemistry,D...come on now... it's not Klay's fault this team has no capable PF except for PJ,who is still himself strugling on O...and it's not Klay's fault this team can't Grab a defensive rebound when it matters....nor is it his fault that Luka looks totally lost at Times out there...he overdribbles, plays ISO,takes dumb early shots...rebounding and D are all about effort and right now this team is showing little of that...they come out lazy, coast for most of the game thinking they can turn it up later and win in the end...unfortunately this year, unlike last season, they suck in clutch... they're making bad calls/plays,and Luka is a big reason for that...he should have been the leader, sometimes it seems like he's playing just for himself...everybody needs to take their game up a notch but Luka has to start making better calls....no more Long range threes(when it's not falling),get inside, bully the D and try to get some points in the paint
Look, math are saying that lineups with Luka and Klay are winning big. On the other hand Kyrie and Gafford are having disastrous numbers.
Eye test is saying that Luka is playing pretty pedestrian basketball, but you have to understand how basketball is being played. Kyrie playing with Luka is having totally different D on him than when is playing without Luka. And even in D, Luka is a big Pg, so team is much bigger with him, that's why Kyrie's lineups without Luka are disastrous in D.
That's kinda funny, that Kyrie with Luka is playing solid D, on the other hand Kyrie without Lyka is playing disastrous D.
I know that's difficult to look at numbers but they're like this,
Luka + 5.4; + 12.3 on/off.
Klay + 7.1; + 11.2 on/off.
Kyrie + 0.7; - 7.9 on/off.
Gafford - 0.2; - 5.6 on/off.
Lively + 7.6; + 6.8 on/off.
Basketball is not a math, but I would say that Kidd should at least think about putting Lively in the starting lineup and putting as good defenders as possible around Kyrie.
Other possibility is starting Naji instead of Kyrie, but I kinda doubt that would be appreciated by Kyrie. Doncic- Klay lineup is working better than Doncic-Kyrie or Kyrie-Klay.
That are only numbers, I'm sure some posters here are living in totally different reality.
