It's the dead of a franchise.
The franchise isn’t dead. The Luka fans are gone now. Eventually there will be new owners and new GM and the team will eventually find another star. Rinse, wash, repeat.
The franchise didn’t die when they traded Mark Aguirre, or when they traded a 23 year old Jason Kidd, or when they let Steve Nash walk, or when they let Brunson walk. The franchise will be ok eventually.
The fanbase from 16 to 30yo were at 70-80% Luka fans, he was the face of the franchise, it's how NBA works in these days... We lost at least 1 generation of fans. It's a completely disaster.
All Dallas Mavericks forums are dead.
The AAC is full of casuals.
We are a joke, you can hear "Fire Nico" chants in every sport buildings.
Internet is full of memes about our franchise.
I know that fans like you and me (who are 40+ yo) will pass over that stupid trade soon or later but it's just a limited vision of the situation.
Watch over your nose sometimes.
And compare Luka Doncic to those (very good) players is simply bad and if you can't understand the difference (basket and extra basket ) it's a big problem. Ouch.
This trade will be remembered forever in sport history, it's like Babe Ruth.
We played the Finals 7 months ago, now we are 10th in the west with something like 4-20 stretch of games and a roster leaded by 2 old injury prone proven Robins and a bunch of good players.
This franchise is dead right now.
Probably only fire Harrison (who has not all the guilty obviously) can help to fix this rift between fans and ownership.
I’m not denying it was the worst trade in NBA history. Clearly it was. Did it set the franchise back maybe 10 years? Yup, the trade **** this franchise. Nico and Patrick Dumont **** this franchise.
My point is this too shall pass. I was as big a Mavs fan in ‘95 as I am right now. The Kidd trade destroyed me as a Mavs fan. Trading a generational talent before he hits his prime is unforgivable. Kidd was not the global star that Luka is but he was by far the best young PG in the game and clear cut HOF talent. He was also a bigger American star than Luka is. Th only difference was that there was no social media like there is now.
It may take a while but this franchise will recover eventually. They will eventually draft another player that will become a star and the fans will be back. There are too many people in Dallas that love basketball for the fans to stay gone forever.
