Now that Giannis is off the table. It seems like KD's heading to SAS. I wonder what Houston wants to do with 10th pick. PJ and top-20 protected 1st for Green and 10 could be nice. The Mavs take a potential rotation piece taking on a young player with some red flags. Green is more playable than Hardy. If Demin is available, you get a future PG as well.

I guess the Mavs may want a complete rebuilding at some point. You get a new coach by then.

WTH Houston is not trading Jalen Green and #10 for PJ Wasghington

Jalen Green is complete and utter trash. But agree Hou wont trade 10 for PJ

Big mistake from the owners not to use this to fire Nico and get draft capital for Kidd
Why do you still think the Mavs owners want to fire Nico?

ATL is reportedly open to trading #13 and #22.
Do Mavs trade PJ and Gaff for 13 and 22?
Reports have Capela walking so they would need a starting center.

Mavs are not rebuilding. They're not going to stockpile draft picks when you have AD and Kyrie with a short "win now" window. You need players that are ready to compete NOW.

Why do you think Atlanta needs PJ? We won't get those two players for their two first round picks.arkuo wrote:ATL is reportedly open to trading #13 and #22.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Didn't even notice Tim Cato was on Mavs reddit yesterday.
He basically confirmed that there is almost no chance that both PJ and Gafford will be on the roster when the season starts. Besides salary cap problems, it's also not possible to distribute minutes on such a roster. So at least one will be traded.
He also noted there is league wide interest in both PJ and Gafford which makes sense since both showed incredible value. But that was mostly with Luka led Mavs.
He also expects Jrue or Brogdon to be a starting guard when Kyrie is out.

Brogdon for the minimum is interesting. D'Lo as well.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Reports coming in that Mavs are one of the teams that have started calling on Anfernee Simmons. Orlando being the other one.
If the price is right, that could be Klay + PJ for Simmons and filler.
Simmons is taller than Kyrie so he can still play SG even when Kyrie comes back.
If the filler is Toumani Camara, then you get your POA defender in one swing.

One problem Toumani would never be used as filler. His trade value is more than Simmons.

Gotcha. I'm not aware he had that much value. So maybe another guy.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Holiday and Pritchard for Gafford, Klay, Martin, Powell, Hardy
On paper, the Mavs looks fine if AD plays some 5, Flagg plays some 4. Holiday, while regressing,, is still good defensively. Without parting with core piece outside of Gafford, it should be fine. Getting Pritchard as another ball handler is a plus during Kyrie's rehabilitation.
For Boston, 5 is the biggest concern with Horford expired and Tatum sidelined. They could definitely use players like Klay, Martin and Hardy.

Kyrie and Simon's would be the worst defensive backcourt duo in the league.
Doesn't exactly fit the "Defense Wins Championships" philosophy.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Detroit gets: Anthony Davis, Caleb Martin
Dallas gets: 2027 FRP via Det, 2029 FRP via Detroit, Jaden Ivey, Tobias Harris, Simone F, and maybe even 2025 2nd round pick from Tor
Dallas reups their draft capital while investing in an Ivey/Flagg/Lively core. Would like to use that 2nd on Tyrese Proctor from Duke. Detroit gets AD to complete a bonafide starting 5. Caleb Martin can cover minutes and make resigning THJ and Beas much less necessary.

I'd pull the trigger
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Interesting stat from Mavs reddit.
Alley-oop dunks in the 2024 Playoffs:
-Dereck Lively 22
-Daniel Gafford 18
-Derrick Jones 12.
The most by any other TEAM in the Playoffs: Nuggets 9
Good job Nico!
And also from Stein. He said there is no chatter or even hints on Kyrie leaving or being moved.
