Would anyone be interested in him?
He is about the most realistic option at SG we could probably get, yet is what we'd be looking for. Big SG who can handle the rock, create for others, score a bit. Not sure about his defense, but I think he's solid.
If Dallas were to take on the contract of Kenny Thomas along with Salmons, he might come kinda cheap.
His stats this season:
36.0 MPG
16.9 PPG
4.9 RPG
3.2 APG
1.5 SPG
2.6 TOPG
51% FG
44% 3-FG

Ager, Stackhouse, Hassell for Salmons, Kthomas
Harris/Terry/Barea
Salmons/Jones
Howard/George
Dirk/Bass//JuHo/Thomas
Damp/Diop/Faz
Not sure to the level that excites me, but I wanted salmons when he was free. Good ball handler, and would work well with Terry at PG. That is a good three guard rotation with Harris, Salmons, Terry. MAvs would never play Thomas.

He's certainly having a career year and I can understand why Sac-Town would try to move him for some value. John's also a longterm investment that Dallas need to watch out for, because I don't see him giving us that big of an edge, but we could use his size over some of our current players.
Between John and Kenny it's roughly 12 million per year and I don't believe that's a wise investment for Dallas. If we did trade for Kenny, I believe Sac-Town would need to add something that's more appeal like a future first round pick with limited protection.

They're going to move Artest first before him.
I never was a big fan of Salmons going back to Philly. I find the hype about him involving his ability to play 15 different positions (including strong safety, midfielder and libero) overrated. But he was always an above-average to good defender, I don't know if those skills took a backseat towards this new Salmons that can light up the scoreboard.

Stack and KT's contract are identical. The Kings should not be so kind on such a deal. This gives them neither cap space nor future picks. I don't see this happening. But it's a good deal for the Mavs.
