What do you guys think about this deal:
NJN get: Terry and Stackhouse(or George)
Mavs get: Carter

Bad for Dallas,

Vince Carter:

$13,000,000

$15,200,000

$16,300,000

$17,300,000

$18,000,000 - Player option

Times that by 2 and you understand why it's a bad investment for Mark Cuban.

I think both teams would rather Hassell + Stack for Carter because Dallas keeps Terry and NJ saves more money.

Hassell and/or Stack can be involved with a 3rd team. Like maybe Hassell & Fazekas to Orlando for Garrity if they want a young, shooting big. Or Stack for Marquis if Indy wants an upgrade & NJ wants to save more money.

I think the NJN fans would balk, but Rod Thorn is by all appearances ready to be rid of Carter and Kidd. IF Kidd can be had for salary relief and young players, then Carter can be had for less... MUCH MUCH LESS.

IF George is truly open to trade, I would venture that George, Jones, Hassell and Ager with Kevin Willis (IF he did not retire) could be enough to entice NJ. It will be tough for NJ to save more than that on Carter's contract. IF Willis is truly on a retired list it will probably take a combination of JJB (or Juwan Howard) & Fazekas to make the salaries work

Add a 2nd or the rights to one of our young Euroleague players in exchange for Darrell Armstrong and it might be enough to convince Thorn.

Not that all reports are to be believed, but the rumblings are that Carter would be given away if Thorn could find a taker at steep enough a discount.
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

No to Carter.

He's almost a replica of Jason Terry but taller. Jumpshooter. Not much defense. 5 assists a game. 5 boards a game. Not much else. Terry is a better 3 point shooter.
