DAL-LAC-MIL and then DAL-IND

Post#1 » by TAKE A TIMEOUT » Sat Feb 9, 2008 5:35 pm

Dallas trades
Jason Terry
Devean George
DeSagana Diop
#first round pick unprotected 2008 & cash (2-3 mill$)
Dallas receives
Michael Redd
Aaron Williams
#Milwaukee's second pick 2008

Clippers trades
Corey Maggette
Sam Cassell
Aaron Williams
Clippers receives
Jason Terry
Devean George
Jake Voskuhl
#Dalla's first round pick unprotected 2008 $ cash (2-3 mill$)

Bucks trades
Michael Redd
Jake Voskuhl
#Second round pick 2008
Bucks receives
Corey Maggette
Sam Cassell
DeSagana Diop

Why For Dallas?
Mavs has a big big hole at SG and Redd is the perfect fit. Dallas tried to sign him is the near past. Redd is an all star caliber player and Nellie is enamored of this player.

Why for LAC?
Cause they have a problem with Cassell. Sam wants out and Livingston is injured so the Clipps only have Brevin Knight and Dickau at PG. Terry could be a great help for they.

Why for Milwaukee?
Becase the Bucks are the fourth worst team in the East with more than 62mill$ commited in salaries for this season and next. Senator Kohl is one of the more misers men of the NBA and he wold not accept pay this money for a team that will not make the playoffs. Maggette and the expirings contracts of Cassell and Diop are sufficient arguments to convince him.

Dallas trades
Jerry Stackhouse
Aaron Williams
Nick Fazekas or Jose Barea
Cash (2-3 mill$)
Dallas receives
Jamaal Tinsley
Jeff Foster

Indiana trades
Jamaal Tinsley
Jeff Foster
Indiana receives
Jerry Stackhouse
Aaron Williams
Nick Fazekas or Jose Barea
Cash (2-3 mill$)

Why for Dallas?
Tinsley is a pure PG, a solid player who can run the team with experience in playoffs. He and Harris coukd make a great PG duo. Foster is a polivalent big man who can rebound, score in the paint and defend the other C.

Why for Indiana?
Pacers will be in a rebuild mode in the near future cause they don't have the chemistry and the pieces to make the play offs. The have more than 66 mill$ commited in salaries for this season and more than 68 mill$ for 2008-2009. With this trade, they will not pay the luxury tax in 2009

With this two trades the Mavs roster will be like this
Harris/Tinsley/Barea
Redd/Jones/Ager
Howard/Hassell
Nowitzki/Bass/Juwan
Dampier/Foster/Juwan

As miserly as the Honorable Herb might be, you are asking Sterling to take on JET as a long-term contract on a player who will be approaching Cassell status sooner rather than later. Tough to provide salary relief to one MISER and ask the guy whose picture is in the dictionary next to the word to take on a big chunk of it.

The rumor was that the Clipps have already nixed a JET for Maggette deal. I don't know that a number one pick and giving up Aaron Williams does much to change their mind...

Forgot to address the second issue. Dallas can't trade Aaron Williams in the second deal for 60 days, unless they are able to send him in a separate deal from Stack et al.

Lastly, I don't think we should overhaul the percentage of the roster this combination of deals proposes...
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

Ok. Put out Aaron Williams and add 1mill cash more (3mill$) or a pick and then you have a trade

Okay, wait just a minute. I'm pretty sure Jake Voskuhl is an expiring filler, right? He is paid 3 mil and owed about 1.2 from here til when season ends.

If Clippers would make that deal, this makes more sense:

Dallas recieves
Corey Maggette
Sam Cassell

Clippers receives
Jason Terry
Devean George
#Dalla's first round pick unprotected 2008
$0.8 to $1.8....that's the 2-3 you quoated minus the 1.2 from Jake's contract.

First deal is ok... Second deal is pretty crappy.
