Sure, these players were always part of the trade:
Harris
Diop
Ager
The part no one is talking about is what we were going to give up and what we ended up giving up.
The parts of the trade that changed:
Before:
Stack
George
After:
Hassell
Van Horn
Sure, Stack was scheduled to come back in 30 days, but still that was 30 days for us without Stack. We at this point have our bench in tact with Stack, George, and Bass. Our team would have struggled immensely without Stack coming off the bench (coupled with Terry starting) for 30 days. Now, this doesn't have to happen.
Bottom line is Stack and his mouth and George and his rejection had to be planned by Cuban. This was of course to push Rod Thorn into taking Hassell, a player we rarely play, instead of Stack. He wanted no part of Hassell and his contract. Yet somehow, it worked. Cuban held his ground and held steadfast. We gave up a lot, but not as much as we were going to give up in the first place. Cuban got the same players (plus Armstrong minus Fazekas) for less. Nice job Cuban!

If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

BTW on Armstrong, I am no longer finding his name anywhere in the trade. Maybe it will be in the final accepted one, I dunno. We shall see. Armstrong would allow Terry to move FT to SG and Armstrong was more of a coach-in-waiting here anyway. He would be an asset to the team. I hope he comes.

Serpo, none of us will ever know for sure if he hosed Thorn and the Nets on purpose. But, he sure got himself a better deal than what he had while holding onto specific pieces that could put the Mavs over the top. If George re-signs with the Mavs for 2-5 years after the season then we can all assume Thorn and Jersey got hosed. If not, then like "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop", we may never know...

Well your_dallas_mavericks Stackhouse or George were never an important issue playerwise for New Jersey .
Both teams lose some money Cuban with keeping Stack and George , NJ with taking Hassel .
You can't call it hossed i don't they think really cared who the players where as long as the salaries match and the contracts aren't too long or ugly .

Artest = Headcase
Kidd = Not so much of a headcase
Of course if you can add Kidd at the same price as adding Artest, then Kidd is the best option. But what you have to consider which is better:
Jason Kidd
or
Devin Harris + Ron Artest
ORL gets: Diop/Hassell
SAC gets: Arroyo/Garrity/Ager + 2 1st rounders from DAL, 3 million cash
DAL gets: Artest
Its time to move forward though.
