Nets FAN here ( some insight )

Post#1 » by superemxguy » Tue Mar 4, 2008 4:38 am

I just think you guys cannot win it all this year.
You guys don't have a team build around kidd.

No Richard Jefferson to run the break.
No Pick and Dunk to like Keyon Martin or Karl Landry type players.

You guys are a half court jump shooting team.
Its like you got a good quarter back but you don't have good receivers and running backs.

So what is the point of getting Kidd ?

Your "insight" is what I have been saying even before the trade just to be told I don't knwo what I'm talking about. Some of those same people put me on their ignore list since they don't recognize that I speak the truth!

The exactly the risk we took. And unfortunately as of now, it doesnt look great. Of course, there is still time, it takes time adjusting to a new PG, ect, but eventually we have to find and we have to win now. I really hope Im wrong and we can turn it around.

Wow, we lost to 4 great teams on the road (New Orleans, Los Angeles,San Antonio, Utah)... It isnt Kidds fault that we lost any of those games. They have 2 months to figure things out, so who knows whats going to happen.

This was definitely a tough stretch so I'm not going to write us off yet, but this team as constructed will always have trouble winning those close games.

The Spurs, Lakers, and Jazz all have players who can drive to the basket and either score or draw a foul in crunch time (Ginobili, Kobe, Deron.) Same thing with every other contender I can think of. Harris was the only player we had that could do that. Even with Kidd at the end of games it will be the same story. An isolation to Dirk where he either hits a ridiculous shot or we come up with nothing.

I really hope that if we don't win a title this year the front office will make some more big moves. We've thrown all our chips in with Kidd and we have to have a team that compliments him. The only players that should be off-limits are Dirk and Kidd.

im gonna worship cuban if he works out a josh-marion swap... and hopefully he could get some athletic running wing men to run with kidd.. kidd is just flawless on the break...

but thinking about it, dampier got 16 points and 17 rebounds last game.. imagine if we got a legit all-star big to pound it inside, we'd have a monster....

I think a lot of people forget that Harris was nowhere to be seen in the last 3 games of the San Antonio series; it was all Dirk. There's a reason why if Dirk plays bad, disappears, or does something stupid, it's almost always a loss. A Mav fan once said that this team goes as far as Dirk takes them and so far he's right on the money.

Kidd in Dallas is just like Nash in Dallas. He makes Dirk better but isn't surrounded by dunkers.

Nash's assists went up and he became MVP when he had guys like Amare and Marion dunking instead of Finley and Dirk shooting jumpers.

This is why Josh Howard waking up and not settling for jumpers and Brandon Bass playing K-Mart like becomes so important to this team. They can give Dallas weapons that play to Kidd's strengths.

I think they just need time.

Again.. i sound liek a broken record and I'm sorry.. but it's Avery.. not our personnel.

This team was running when Kidd first got here. And in 8 games he has converted Kidd into Devin Harris.. don't run... Set up in the halfcourt. Don't pass the ball to dirk, jason kdid.. only to Josh howard and Jason Terry and Jerry Stackouse and Erick Dampier of all people..

Everyone seems to know that this Mavs team will only win if Dirk and Kidd carry us except Avery. either Avery is the most stubborn, obtuse, idiot coach in NBA history.. or he is intentionally sabotaging this team to protect his own dreams of a life-long coaching job. Considering he has suppsoedly thrown Dirk under the bus behind the scenes I am really leaning to the latter.

Is it really just a coincidence that Avery seems to make life as hard as possible for Dirk offensively and as easy as possible for the opposing offensive player? Then when Dirk doesn't live up to the other stars accomplishments he is blamed for it?

The only other alternative I can see is that this is all just some scam on the league and Avery is using Dirk to make everyone on the mavs look better, at Dirk's own expense, in hopes of fooling the league into thinking the Mavs are loaded with all-stars and not a one-man-team to gain the favor of Der Stern.. but that flies in the face of NBA star politics and preferential treatment. That's how you get Dirk getting hosed in the Finals by the refs against the Heat and the blinding star power of guys like shaq and Wade. And this is why Dirk gets hosed in the recent Lakers game while Kobe gets the Wade treatment..

While we are talking about broken records....

Harris 28-11
Terry/Barea 7-7
Kidd 4-4

hopefully, with these recent close losses, cuban will see the obvious needs and does some changes in the offseason.... josh could get his act together, or end up being shipped out.. at least dallas gave him a a chance..

LOL , that would be funny.

Richard Jefferson would run the MAVs to championhip. Kidd's #1 man on fast break. NETS ran pass Raptors last year on playoff with Richard Jefferson.

As for Carter, he is a play maker with good court vision.

Marion would be great fit.

I Don't think brandon Bass fit Kidd's offense. Numerous times Kidd hinted
pick and roll dunk, but Bass just posted up.
I saw many times against Utah yesterday.

It's always easy for fans to downplay players their team traded away... But I have to ask the question... WTF is Devin Harris?

Is this guy a starting caliber point guard? Is he a Leandro Barbosa 6th man?

I really don't know, having watched him with the Mavs and now with the Nets.

I like to compare him with the Nets' other point guard, Marcus Williams, and passing wise he just doesn't hold a candle to Williams.
