At least Marion would 1) Benefit from a PG like Kidd, 2) Play defense unlike Howard who no longer does, 3) Can play defense on multiple positions, 4) supurb rebounder and shot blocker for a SF/PF 5) Plays all quarters.

You forgot to add Marion's annual disappearing act in the playoffs.

He sure showed up against us! The Suns took us to game 6 without Amare in large part due to Marion. He also knocked us out the year before.

It's okay if you like Howard more. It's also okay if you don't like the trade. But I still am on the stance that the Kidd trade SUCKED and if we are changing to a Kidd philosophy, we should not stop there and NEED Kidd type players and Howard just is not that type. AND HE STILL HASN'T PLAYED DEFENSE THIS YEAR!

Dude I've pretty much given up on J-HO so far this year, especially with sub par play post-Kidd trade and plus I was never a huge advocate of this trade to begin with.......

Ah, okay. I may be in the minority among mav fans, but I would feel a lot better going into next year with a Marion type player even if that is at the expense of Howard.

You may be in the minority here but I'm with you. Marion is the same age as Dirk and a much better fit with Kidd. They have played together before and Marion is the athletic freak that we need on this team. Plus, he can guard bigger players than Josh can. He also plays better without the ball which is what we need with Kidd.
If Wright can show signs of being starting SG material, then I would be all for the Stack and Howard for Marion idea.

The POs should give us a pretty good indication if something like this will happen. If tremendous weaknesses surface as they did in the GS series, I could see a move like that happening.
Anyone who thinks we could get more for Howard than someone of Marion's caliber is simply living in fantasy.

I agree with everything in this post. The bolded section is why Howard is concidered better than Marion by some. Howard can create for himself (making Kidd's impact as a player, floor general and leader much less) making him the better one on one player. Marion can have a MUCH, MUCH better impact doing everything without the ball that Howard simply can't do offensively and stopped doing defensively. Marion is a much better fit on a team of all-stars than Howard will ever be. As long as we had a team where 5 players could attack (with Harris), who had the assist and ran the show was irrelevant. Now we designated that person to be Kidd, thus everyone else must know their role. Simpley put, the things that makes Howard beneficial to a team are not needed on a team with a true PG. Of course, you don't just get rid of talent like Howard; you trade him for the right kind of talent.

i've said it before... im for marion coming to dallas...

the dude can guard all 5 positions... he has the lateral quickness to even stay with opposing guards on defense... he could stay with opposing big men with his length and athleticism... if we wanted a player to play defense like ron artest, yet still enough offensive weapons left, that is shawn marion...

JES said it best...

Marion + kidd > Howard + Kidd
Marion < Howard

and since cuabn probably bet his bottom dollar on this kidd bandwagon, then he might as well go "all in".... howard is perfect for avery's isolation plays, marion is better with a facilitator at point... and at this point in time, im gonna go with marion... especially now that we just hired the richest point guard in the NBA..... might as well make kidd worth every penny...

You're all right with me, JES. The board needs someone like you to put things into perspective at times... Thanks.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...
