Josh Howard or Luol Deng

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Apr 24, 2008 3:18 am

I'm just going to create this topic because Luol Deng came to mind. I'm going to think about it throughout the day and decide who I would prefer. For the time being, who would you prefer? Josh Howard or Luol Deng (5 years younger)?

My initial reaction is Deng, but that depends on how much he signs for and if Howard all of a sudden gets out of his defensive amnesia.

Its a tie. Depends solely on the team your building. Both players arent playing remotely close to their talent right now (i had to point this out hence my username), but Josh is better now. The difference is not only the defense, Josh is also better at creating for himself on isolation plays. On the other hand Deng has that nice 10-12 jumpshot going for him and obviously will get better defensively over time.

With Deng's contract extension on the line, he prob will demand close to max money, im more swinging into Joshs direction right now as he is on a reasonable, good contract.

I say Deng just because the Mavs need to start looking towrds the future a little. My vote is skewed though, because I am also a hardcore Duke Blue Devils fan.

Josh out rebounded and out scored deng. I like the idea of Deng due to his stock rising as Josh has leveled out

I can't believe so many people have turned on Josh. Yes he is having a horrible series but do you guys think Deng could have averaged 21 and 11 like Josh did in the GS series?

Look how many people turned on Dirk last year. I started this because I felt it would get us away from some of the playoff threads. Deng being a free agent and Chi-Town might actually think about swapping players considering Deng is wanting some outrageous money.

It's not about turning on Josh, it's about seeking upgrades to any position we have, and filling holes along the way.

I just don't see how trading a 19 ppg 7rpg guy for a 17ppg 6rpg guy gets us our #2 scorer. I would trade Howard for draft picks before I did that trade

No...Deng is not the answer as a sidekick to Dirk which is what we need in any type of Howard trade.

I see that as a lateral move at best.

He put up 22.2 and 8.7 per game in last years playoffs.
