RGM Pre-Draft Summits

Post#1 » by APerna » Thu May 8, 2008 4:10 pm

Hey posters,

First of all, I'm sorry that your team wasn't able to make it to the second round of the playoffs. I definitely identify with you, since my Pacers weren't even able to make it that far. I am looking to put together NBA Summits for each team as the Draft draws closer.

I put together a ton of these on the NFL forums heading into the draft and they were wildly successful. I hope for the same here, and I know the population of these boards will lend itself to many responses.

Editor Chris Reina and I have put together these seven questions for you all to answer, with the best answers making it into posted pieces on our main page. The only thing that I ask is that you please limit your responses to two sentences per question. Please try your best to heed that request, it makes the Summits easier to read and quicker to put together.

Thanks gang, and best of luck in the Draft.

1. What could the team have done differently to advance in the playoffs?
2. Where were the team

1. Not let Avery coach the team.
2. Dirk.
3. Bass (for the 2nd half
4. Josh Howard
5. Pretty confident. I think Cuban will help the team out somehow.
6. Anything. We just need young players.
7. Well we dont have a first rounder, so I dont care. I think we should trade up into the lottery

1. play to Jason Kidd's style; don't trade for a PG and then stifle him by forcing him into the system. Stack and Howard had horrid series and nothing seemed to be able to turn that around...

2. Dirk

3. Bass and Damp to some degree played better with Kidd than with Harris

4. Howard had an okay season as did JET but I'd have liked to see more from both; Eddie Jones was awful and Devean George was too streaky

5. about a 6 - i fear they won't be willing to trade Howard after trading Harris

6. assuming that Cuban & Donnie plan to retool around Dirk and Kidd then DAL needs to upgrade at SF, SG, C, and backup PG

7. no first round pick and I doubt they will trade for youth; I expect they'll grab someone in the 2nd round and stash them in Europe

1. Let Kidd run the offense... And run run and run again !
2. Dirk
3. Bass very impressed me thus far. Young, skilled, he is a good player.
4. Stop blaming Josh Howard. He has a good season since he scored more and took more rebounds than last year. As for me, this "award" goes to Eddie Jones and Devean George.
5. Very confident, even if I doubt they will trade Stack
6. Ain't care since we only have a second rounder
7. Ain't care... Anyway, we still have connections with Pops Mensah Bonsu, Reyshawn Terry, Renaldas Seibudis (I'll go for Pops and Terry)

5. Not confident at all. They screwed up by making the Kidd trade and they thought that guys like Buckner, George, and Jones could help us get over the hump.

1. Better offseason trying to get a 2nd superstar or at least a real SG.
2. Dirk.
3. Bass and in the 1st half devin harris.
4. Josh howard.
5. No confidence at all. Donnie nelson is one of the worst GM in the league.
6. We just have a 2nd round pick, no expectations.

1. By not trading all their depth for Kidd keeping a Diop and or Hassell could have made a huge difference in 2 areas of weakness.
2. Dirk's and Brandon Bass' offense.
3. Brandon Bass on the offensive end and Erick Dampiers effectiveness around the basket with the addition of Kidd.
4. Jason Terry's 1st half shooting slump,Josh Howard's 2nd half mental slump and Avery Johnson's playoff coaching mistakes.
5. Very confident that Donnie will come up with another gem as he has with Diop and Bass.
6. Best player avaliable at this point with only a late 2nd round pick as of this moment.
7. Love to see the Mavs get impossibly lucky and get an atheltic swing man that can run the floor like the wind and defend like Bruce Bowen.

1. Compliment players with coach. Bring in players to fill roles
2. Manipulating mismatch one-on-one. Versatility. Deep bench.
3. Devin Harris and Desagana Diop early, Brandon Bass later.
4. Jerry Stackhouse and Eddie Jones
5. I'm confident in Donnie Nelson. He's a noise for young talents.
6. A 2-way SF/SG if we're going to re-sign Diop.
7. OJ Mayo (3-5 pick), Nicholas Batum (13-15) or Brandon Rush (16-20) if we can trade up. I like a center like JaVale McGee(16-20), though. Bring him on and re-sign his fellow schoolmate Nick Fazekas. We'd be fine at 5.
