Is there a possibility that the Mavs could somehow sign and trade george jones wright
idk anybody who isn't our core in hopes to get NJ to sign and trade diop as well. This
way we could get the best center on the market and keep our MLE and get a good 2.
This would complete our team. I'm not a big fan of george jone or wright anyways so
this would be awesome. How would this work financially and do you think NJ would
do it at all.

They could get it to work financially but I don't see why NJ would want to take someone back for Diop.

I'm not sure why there is so much concern about preserving the MLE. There are no players who will sign for the MLE that will make a significant difference for this team. We might as well sign Diop and address our bigger needs through trades.
At least we are using it this season.

Well i agree with what your saying I am extremely looking forward the signing of Diop.
But if we can have both diop and our MLE then there are 2 guards our there such as Posey and others who would simply make us better. I really don't like George/Wright/Jones i would actually have an MLE over those guys.

I'm kind of starting to agree with this. I don't want to see a long-term full mle deal going to a mediocre role player. There are several players I think could make a real impact like Azubuike and JR Smith, but they're both restricted fa's.

Azubuike we could pry away for just less than the MLE IMO, I live here in the Bay Area, and they like him, but they can part with him.
Azubuike+Mo Evans would satisfy me.

Re: MLE hopes?
I would give every penny of MLE to Azubuike for 5 years and concider it a bargain.
I remember reading an article stating NJ was calling several SFs, including George. A DMN or FWST article said Mavs were trying to work it out without George.
I'd give both George and Wright (assuming they want him back) or George and Jones (+ Cash to buy Jones out) for Diop and spend the MLE on a 2 guard.
Azubuike full 5 years
JR Smith, team option at year 3 (like we did with Buckner)
Pietrus, team option on year 2 or partial MLE is he wants a longer deal
Barnes, no interest except vet min

Re: MLE hopes?
I think Azubuike would be nice but I would rather have JR Smith shoots a better percentage and seems like more of a slasher than Azubike. Pietrus is gone to Orlando, dont care much for Barnes at least not enough for the MLE. All that being said I dont really expect NJ to help us out with a S&T for Diop, hope it happens but not likely.

They would at least give us a bandaid for that new hole they ripped!

Doesn't matter.
Get him or Azubuike to sign a MLE offer sheet, wait the week and if they match, approach the other. If they both match, at least you can say you tried and you would still have the MLE in case something falls into your lap.

Re: MLE hopes?
I still think a trade would be the better option. I dont like howard as our #2 cause he is nobody I would like to rely so heavily on. that said, I dont think kelenna or jr are #2s. they would make the roster better, for sure, but they wouldnt be the missing pieces
