J-Ho or no J-Ho
I am personally a huge Josh Howard fan and beleive that he is a huge part
of this team. He is extremely good and would HATE to see him in another
teams uniform. I would be willing to bet that this upcomming season, Josh Howard will shut up
every "fan" who wants to trade him. So i wanna know...
Would you trade J-Ho or not (during the pre-season)
I wanna know why you would or why you wouldn't
If possible tell me who you would like to get in terms of J-Ho.

I wouldn't trade Howard unless we're getting a clear upgrade. A lot of things contributed to his terrible play at the end of last year. He was banged up, having personal problems, and trying to figure out how to play with Kidd (and a coach that everyone had tuned out didn't help).
I definitely think he'll bounce back this season.

Re: J-Ho or no J-Ho
Concur with all the above. J-Ho will have more value as a player next season than as a trade piece.
Unless we can virtually trade him straight up for Marion or someone of similar caliber, it would make no sense to trade him.
I say the Mavs should get a piece close to Howard's caliber as a SG (Maggette, Richardson, Redd, Miller, etc...).

Howard is a huge part of our success, but he didnt prove anything last season. I am willing to see how he does under a new coach and having more practice with Kidd, but I do think Dallas should be fielding offers for him.

Re: J-Ho or no J-Ho
at the end of last season I was very disappointed in him. now that the dust has settled I think we should keep him unless someone makes an offer that is a clear upgrade. josh will come back as strong as he's ever been and coach carlisle will definitely help.
I'd love to keep him and get nice 2 for a package around bass + expirings

Howard's value is very low at this point. It is a bad time to trade him.

We might as well, we're not going to get what he's worth - so we might as well keep him.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I guess this is what I've come to accept. Many on here continue to overrate Josh (IMO) and apparently consider his late season nosedive as an aberation. The rest of the league unfortunately has access to TNT, and they all saw Josh totally suck in the playoffs. They probably also have the internet and know all the other bonehead things Josh did to implode this team.
So while I'd love to see them land a top notch perimeter defender (which I think has been their biggest need for many years) for Josh, I would assume other teams are trying to steal him for nothing, so the Mavs just must hope that Avery was the major culprit in Josh heading so far south. I have my doubts that'll end up being the case. More likely I suspect that Josh is just a sorry guy without much of a stomach for a fight.
I hope I'm wrong about that.

But does Josh think he has something to prove? Did you hear his comments about why he missed so many shots in the playoffs? (You can't control what the ball do man. It's crazy man.) He's never given one indication that I've seen where he thinks he could have done anything better than he has.
I would say that some players are at their best when they have something to gain financially. Josh has a gigantic guaranteed contract, so he can just keeping chucking it up there and blaming the ball for not going in and cashing his checks.
There may be some guys with a high level of pride who look to fight back from adversity. I'm just not so sure that those are the same guys passing out fliers in the lockerroom for their friggin drunk fest birthday party during the playoffs when the coach has requested that they not party during the playoffs.
BTW, what kind of grown man passes out fliers inviting people to his own birthday party?

I have to agree with mrmreg. All of the things I have heard from Howard since the playoffs haven't been about what he did wrong, he was just trying to say that he will work on his jump shot and maybe they will go in. Yes I want him to be a better jump shooter but he hasn't realized that he isn't a jump shooter, that's why he was the ACC POY and went 29th. He needs to understand his strengths and weaknesses and play to those. I believe Carlisle will do this for him but ultimately it comes down to Howard to execute the plays.

Re: J-Ho or no J-Ho
dude....the guy got a freakin 500 on his SATs....
and even when you listen to him speak, he does not come off as the most inteligent person
everytime he touches the ball on a fast break he shoots it even if someone is incredibly open
he doesnt have very good ball handling and he is strictly a slasher who is basically a decent scorer who must get to basket or paint within 2 to 3 dribbles because after that he becomes a turnover waiting to happen. i believe he is a good player but he aint no legit #2 player
i saw his jump shot get noticeably better the year we won 67 but this year there is some delay release to his shot therefore it hits back rim and has no arch to it
but hey i rather rape someone on a deal for him during the course of this season...hopefully he gets really hot and then we trade him b4 he cools down

The dude is one of the best forwards in the league at NOT turning over the ball. At least if you want to bash someone, have your facts straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
