Bargnani or Bass?

Post#1 » by aschneider970 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:04 pm

I was talking to a friend of mine today that is a Raps fan and claims that they could have possibly got Artest by sending Bargnani and possibly other assets of the Raps. In my opinion I thought that if we sent them Bass + Stackhouse that that was a better trade then what they got from Houston. My friend then claimed that Bargnani is better and has more value than Bass. In Bass' defense I claimed that they both had equal value on the market today and that they both play roughly the same last year in the season. I was wondering what the board thought. Who has the brighter future?

I would do the trade based solely on potential.

bargs is the better player, period. he isnt quite there yet, but he will develop in a really fine player. bass has done alot last year for the mavs, but I think he is close to his cieling, whereas bargnani should improve for sure

not on stats, not now. but when I see them both play, I have the impression that bass is close to his ceiling whereas bargnani has the potential to get better. maybe its also only because bargs is Italian... so blame me

so let me get this right!?!... Brandon Bass had one good year as a part time starter and now his value is sky high?!....your saying he has more value than a 7ft PF/C that can knock down 3's and was a former #1 pick; bust he's only been in the league 2 yrs if Im not mistaken Bass was a 2nd rd pick by NO and was released...

some of you Mavs fans are either crazy or stupid...but your definetly homers.....

Watch the game man.....Bargs is 3 times as soft as Dirk and 5 times a soft as Bass. He ,may improve his stoke, but last I heard testosterone supplements are banned in the NBA.

And NO WAY Bass has hit his cieling. You can't tell me that a player in his 1st year of getting his feet wet will no longer improve. You can't tell me that 8.3 & 4.4 with avg to good defense in only 20 min is not worth more the Bargs who was all international hype. If anyone hit their ceiling, it's Andrea. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a) still in the "hype" and "precieved potential" of 2006 or b) totally ignorant.

And even if they had the same stats, same potential, same everything, I don't want Dirk and the softer Dirk super-lite on the same team when we clearly need an inside guy like Bass who when he is away from the basket, he shoots over 50% on his jumpers.

Andreas Bargani is a good players with potential. But he's yet to become a force in the league.
Shooting 30 something isn't a good sign if you want to become next Dirk Nowitzki.

50%-40%-90% should be the goal. Right now, Brandon Bass has more value. He's more effective.
On pure potential, his ceiling should be higher than Bass. It's about equal right now.

I think you missed the point jes, nobody wants or needs bargnani on our team. the OP asked who had more value and I think bargnani has more value, even if it's only because of his number 1 status.
nobody can say that either player has reached or not reached his cieling, so I take that back. I just think bargnani has more potential, but future will tell.
I just dont see bass as a starter in this league, bargnani could very well be one. but like I said, thats me.

That's cool. To each their own. You have your opinion and I have mine and we are both free to think what we want.

The question was who has more trade value, not who is the better palyer. Bargnani has a better trade value becaus eof his potential and because he was the number 1 pick. People think hes good and hes bound to have a good season with the raps this season, italians make their name in their third season
