I translated it for you guys:

To: German Olympic Sports Confederation

We, the signatories of this petition, wish us DIRK NOWITZKI as the standard bearers for the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing.

DIRK NOWITZKI is one of the few superstars of the German Sports, if not the only one. DIRK NOWITZKI, with its particular character and sporting performance in recent years always been a role model and is like no other athletes for the Olympic dream.

DIRK NOWITZKI has increased in recent years regularly personal interests for the German national basketball team and the German sport in general back and should now be employed for its setting and its outstanding sports achievements rewarded.

international superstars?
who would that be?
schumacher retired, haas, kiefer and the shaker are not superstars.
in soccer, if you want to call ballack a superstar, well, so be it. thats one (for me he is no superstar, only a good player but you could argue bout him)
maybe I am missing someone but I dont see that many superstars there

kathrin boron
ralf schumann
andreas dittmer
