Dirk to carry German Olympic flag

The German Olympic OC has decided that Dirk will carry the German flag at the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Departing from the tradition of sending in Olympic Gold medallists, they chose Dirk for his "exemplary dedication to the Olympic Dream". FYI, Dirk relentlessly committed himself to the German squad from 1999 on, suffered 2 botched qualification campaigns in 2000 and 2004 until he finally led GER into the 2008 Games.

I'm happy for Dirk though, he finally gets his chance in the Olympics. Germany will be a tough team to beat with their bigs being able to shoot.

Countries all over the world are choosing basketball stars to carry their flags.
Yao/China.
Ak47/Russia.
Ginobili/Argentina

And now Dirk/Germany.

The US of A needs to follow suit and allow COACH K to carry the US flag.

I think having an NBA player carry the flag of their country represents how far the NBA has gone in the world.
Its has become a Global sensation and I think we owe it to the O.G dream team.
Im extremely happy for Dirk, I know I would be honored if it was me.
But props to Dirk.
