I know most of you here hate trade threads but I was bored. Anyways what about a deal that would send Terry and Howard to Miami, Marion to NJ, and Carter Haslem and Miami's 1st to Dallas. Miami has been seeking to move Haslem and would get a great combo guard to play with Wade. They get a good secondary scorer in Howard, and lose only Marion, who is expendable due to Beasley. NJ rids themselves of Carter and bring in Marion, who would probably be only a temp, so that they could continue to pursue the FA class of 2010. Dallas brings in a LEGITAMITE scorer/playmaker who is not a great number one option any more, but would be a helluva number 2. He has become a very good passer and a decent defender. Haslem would help some, as I am not truly sold on Bass yet and Dallas also gets a 1st so if the team still cant turn it around, they would have to 1st round picks, Kidds expiring and Stackhouse/Bass to deal. I think Dallas gambles the most here on Carter, but they are in the worst/best spot. We seem stuck in the middle of a dominant Western Conference and Carter is the best scorer in the deal. I believe it is easier to lean on Wright/George to defend and shoot wide open shots, the to believe that Gerald Green and Ray Terry are going to be able to produce. Haslem provides toughness and gives Bass insurance or makes him expendable. I believe all 3 teams would do the deal. I know fillers would need be included but, what do you guys think?
Dallas
Kidd/backup
Carter/Green
Wright/Stackhouse/George
Dirk/Bass/Haslem
Damp/Diop/Haslem
Not too bad... Carter and Dirk would work I believe as they could lean on each other with Kidd running the show. Less pressure on Green, who I think could do well with Kidd running and gunning

Re: Trade Idea
Sorry i didnt read your whole post, i stopped when Miami took on Terry's contract.
They will never do that, their eyes are directed at 2010 FA, Terry's contract could potentially kill their chances on a big time FA. I love the JET, but MIA could be one of the few places in the Nba you have to give up a lot more talent to persuade them to take on JET's contract.
They only consider if they get their big time FA player now, and that player better is >>>Marion. Yep, i'm talking Dirk.

Why involve New Jersey at all? I'd take Marion over Carter 365 days out of the year.
Marion + Haslem for Terry + Howard is a fair deal, but I'm sure Miami would rather have Haslem over terry and Dallas would rather have Terry over Haslem.....tus getting back to a topic mentioned every other day this summer...Howard + Stack for Marion

Re: Trade Idea
You trade 2 starters for 1 and the 1 starter you get back isn't really all that and negates the fact of having a solid 2 when you dont have a good 3 anymore. Plus like Captain said I dont think Miami takes on Terry's contract when they have Wade playing that postion already and they for sure dont do it if it involves their 1st round pick. Plus if those players are involved in a trade I wont Marion not Carter.

it makes us better because of kidd. marion would do much better than howard with kidd, also he would play the defense we need on this position. stack is only a big black hole at this point of his career and thus we can easily trade him. for the other team he has at least a little value regarding his "semi-expiring" contract.
problem after such a trade remains still the 2 guard. at least with marion on board he wouldnt need to be a defensive force

Re: Trade Idea
The reason I added NJ, is because although I believe Marion is also a better player overall then Carter, he is not a great scorer, definitely not on his own. If Howard were to go, a go to guy would have to come in. Dirk is our scorer, but he does it out of shooting, not slashing. Carter can get to the basket and find the open man. He would be our half court facilitator, which Marion would not be and what Howard isnt either. I think Miami would bite because Haslem makes a fare share of money and is not in their plans no longer. Wade has no backcourt mate besides Chalmers or Cook, both very unproven. JET would play immediately with and behind Wade, who is both a 1 and a 2. Add Beasley and thats a nice 1-2-3 scoring punch. Dallas desperately needs a top flight scorer, and like I said Carter is the best that we could actually bring in. His game has evolved, much like McGradys, as they have gotten older, the dunks have left but he has added some really nice passing. Wright/George/Stack/Green would just have to be our defensive position and knock down WIDE OPEN shots. I think that is more reasonable to expect then Green or Ray Terry coming in and being a legit scoring option consistantly. With Dirk, Carter, Bass/Haslem and Kidd, scoring would be alot easier then with Howard or Marion here.

Kidd/Carter/Wright/Dirk/Damp would get torn apart by the Memphis Grizzlies

Re: Trade Idea
I'd rather have Howard and Wright instead of Carter and Wright the rest stays the same so it boils down to Howard for Carter and I don't even think so. Age difference aside Carter is no longer the Carter you remember and is very injury prone now so gambling the future of the team on Carter would be suicidal. Like others I agree Marion would be a better fit but even then not worth doing due to salary probs and the fact Howard is so much more affordable

If Miami wouldn't go for Terry/Howard for Marion/Haslem, we could afford to throw in Bass if we are getting Haslem back.
Also, if we substituded Damp for Terry, I'd think the contract wouldn't be quite as much of a problem.
Or
Howard, Terry, Damp, and Jones for Marion, Haslem, Blount. Those salaries are a pretty close match.
Then package Bass and Stack for someone like Miller.
Kidd/Barea
Miller/Green
Marion/Wright
Dirk/Haslem
Diop/Blount
