I guess this is a situation where Rick doesnt need a Del Harris type assistant to to back him up like Avery did, but I was kinda hoping that those two with a good resume could work well to spend alot of time with the players, especially the young guys.

He was a bad assistant coach, so im not really understanding why Mark is giving him more responsibility now

I wouldn't consider him a bad assistant coach. Avery just didn't let him have any say at all.
